Fifty and No/lOOths ($6,550.00)
Dollars, which deed was duly
recorded in the office of the
Clerk of Superior Court of Chat
tooga County, Georgia, in Deed
Book 73, Page 575, which was
transferred from Georgia Se
curities Investment Corporation
to The Brooklyn Savings Bank,
which transfer was recorded in
Deed Book 74, Page 424, of the
Deed Records of Chattooga
County, Georgia.
WHEREAS, the said Vera
Lucile James has defaulted in
the payment of the monthly in
stallments of Thirty Six and
22/100ths ($36.22) Dollars, prin
cipal and interest and,
WHEREAS, because of said de
fault and in accordance with the
terms and stipulations con
tained in the aforesaid Security
Deed, said The Brooklyn Savings
Bank has declared the whole in
debtedness as described in said
Security Deed due and payable.
NOW THEREFORE, in accord
ance with the terms and stipu
lations as contained in the Se
curity Deed, the undersigned as
Attorney in Fact for Vera Lucile
James, will sell at public outcry
on the first Tuesday in March,
next, before the Courthouse door
of said County, during the legal
hours of sale, to the highest
bidder for cash, the following

the 6th District and 4th Section
of Chattooga County, Georgia,
being Lot Nos. 10, 11, 12, and 13
in Block F of the Thomas Sub
division No. 1, a plat of which is
recorded in Plat Book 2, Page 86.

ticularly described as BEGIN
NING at a point on the east line
of Rose Circle 175 feet north
erly from the northeastern in
tersection of Rose Circle and
Bullman Alley; thence northerly
along the east line of Rose Circle
100 feet to a point; thence east

F. Allen executed to Hales &
Hunter Co. (Delaware) a prom
issory note in the principal sum
of Thirty four Thousand, Sev
enty One Dollars and 60/100,
(34,071.60) Dollars, due in weekly
installments as called for there
in with interest from date at the
rate of Six (6) percent per an
num. In order secure the pay
ment of said note the said Grady
F. Allen executed a deed to se
cure debt in favor of Hales &
Hunter Co. (Delaware), said
deed to secure a debt being re
corded in Deed Book 88 page 115
In the office of the Superior
Court of Chattooga County,
Georgia.
The above described security
deed conveyed the following de
scribed real estate, to-wit:
All that tract or parcel of land
lying and being parts of land
lots 106, 110 and 111 in the 13th
District and 4th Section of
Chattooga County, Georgia and
being more particularly de
scribed as follows:
BEGINNING at an established
corner on the original lot line
forming the east boundary of
said land lot No. 110 which is
66 feet south of the northeast
corner of said land lot No. 110
and the southwest corner of
land lot No. 106; thence south
along said original east line of
Land Lot No. 110, 775 feet to a
corner; thence west 342 feet to a
corner; thence north 1560 feet
to a corner; thence east 1510
feet to a corner which is 210 feet
west of a certain public road
adjoining the Georgia State Fish
Hatchery lands; thence south
erly and parallel with said pub
lic road 210 feet to a corner;
thence east 210 feet to said pub
lic road; thence southerly with
said public road to a point which
is 66 feet south of the original

There is specifically excluded
from the above described prop
erty the following described
property, to-wit:

deeded to Grady Farrell Allen,
Jr. by Grady F. Allen be ex
cluded from that parcel or tract
of land owned by Grady F. Allen
and recorded in book 81, pages
267 and 268 of Chattooga Coun
ty, Georgia.
All that tract or parcel of land
situated, lying and being in land
lot No. 106 in the thirteenth
District and fourth section of
Chattooga County, Georgia and
being more particularly de
scribed as beginning at a stake
four hundred feet west of the
west side of the Perennial Pub
lic Road and seven hundred
Nineteen <719) feet north of the
original lot line forming the
south boundary of said land lot
106, thence southerly and paral
lel with said public road four
hundred twenty feet to a stake,
thence west 210 feet to a stake,
thence east 210 feet to the point
of beginning, containing two (2)
acres more or less together with
an easement for ingress and
egress to aforesaid property over
and along an existing driveway
leading from the south side of
aforesaid property over remain
ing property of Grady F. Allen
easterly to said Perennial Public
Road. The above two (2) acres
of land being recorded in Book
85, page 279 of Chattooga Coun
ty, Georgia.
Under the express terms and
conditions contained in the
aforesaid security deed, Hales &
Hunter Co. (Delaware) has the
right to sell the above described
property upon failure of the
grantor to meet payments as
provided in said note and to
comply with the terms as con
tained in aforesaid security
deed, after advertising same
once a week for four weeks in
the official gazette of Chattooga
County, Georgia.
Said note has not been paid
as provided for therein and is
now in default and by virtue of
the power contained in afore
said security deed, Hales &
Hunter Co. (Delaware) as attor
ney in fact for Grady F. Allen,
will sell the above described
property at public outcry on the
first Tuesday in March, 1964, in
front of the Court House door in
Chattooga County, Georgia,
within the legal hours of sale.
Said property will be sold sub
ject to a deed to secure a debt
from Grady F. Allen to the
Farmers Home Administration
being recorded in Deed Book 81
page 268 of the Deed Records of
Chattooga County, Georgia to
which reference is hereby made.
Terms of this sale will be cash
and the proceeds thereof will be
distributed as provided in said
security deed.

Miss Diane Blalock celebrated
her seventh birthday with a
party at the home of her par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Blalock
last week. Among those present
were: Debbie Potter, Marie, Mor
ris, Cindy and Tommy Vernon,
and Greg Blalock. Delicious re
freshments of cokes, potato chips
and birthday cake were served.
Nice and useful girts were re
ceived by the honoree.
Mrs. Sara Peppers Denson, of
Dry Valley, formerly of Lyerly,
was honored last week with a
shower at the home of Mrs. La
nelie Pierce. Rt. 3 Summerville.
Mrs. Pierce was assisted by seve
ral ladies of the community.
Party plates of chicken salad on
lettuce, party crax and pound
cake along with Cokes was
served to approximately 40
guests. Among those from Lyerly
attending were: Mrs. Guy Pep
pers, Mrs. L. B, Cook, Jr. and
Jackie, Mrs. Arthur Morrison
and Gwen Williams.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Peppers, Bob
bi Jo and Lyndon Clark, of Ced
artown, visited relatives here last
week.
Harbin Stephens was released
from Chattooga Hospital Mon
day after spending several days
there.
Mrs. A. W. Morrison visited Mr.

Mrs. Lucille White is recupe
rating at her home following
surgery at Floyd Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Tucker and

Mrs. Johnny Bryant and Mari

Mr. and Mrs. Horace Abrams

Mrs. Russ Kellett has returned
home after being on an extend
ed visit in Summerville with her
daughter.

Menlo, spent Sunday with Mrs.
Ida Thomas and Bill.
Congratulations are in order of
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Ray on the
arrival of a baby girl, Clyda Lee
born last week at Floyd Hospital.

Trion Church
Dr. O. M. Cates, the new sec
retary of evangelism for the
Georgia Baptist Convention, will
be the speaker Sunday at the
Trion First Baptist Church.
He will speak in the absence
of the Rev. Darty Stowe, pastor,
who will be speaking in a revival
at the Madison (Ala.) Baptist
Church.
Dr. Cates came to his present
post after having served as a
pastor for a number of years.
His most recent pastorate was
the Cherokee Heights Baptist
Church, Macon. He presided at
the recent state-wide evangelis
tic conference held at Macon’s
Mabel White Baptist Church,
which several local Baptist pas
tors attended.
Sunday evening, during the
regular Training Union hour,
the annual junior and inter
mediate sword drills will be held.
Everyone will first go to his
regular union meeting place at
6:30 p.m. to complete records
and necessary business. They
will then return to the church’s
sanctuary at 6:50 p.m. for the
sword drill, which will continue
until 7:25 p.m.
In the meantime, plans have
been announced for a revival to
begin at the church Easter Sun
day with Dr. S. F. Dowis speak
ing. This will be in cooperation
with a county-wide simultane
ous Baptist revival series.
Each man, woman, and child
in the U. S., on the average, uses
about 400 pounds of paper a
year.

shops through a special project.
They gave their time and
talent to children of the local
schools and 37 little lassies went
home with new hair cuts, curls
and hints on how to care for

PORTABLE
HOSPITAL
OFFERED CD
A $30,000 portable hospital will
soon be obtained by the Chat
tooga County Civil Defense, it
has been announced.
Location of a storage place is
now being considered.
The hospital would be avail
able for use in the event of a
natural disaster or in event of
an attack.
Several Chattooga CD officials
went to Rome this week to look
at the Floyd County portable
hospital unit and to learn more
about how it should be stored.
In the meantime, construc
tion of a Chattooga CD building
adjacent to the Chattooga
Health Department got under
way last Saturday. The county
is furnishing the site and ma
terials and CD men are doing
the building.
