Georgia Growth Exceeds That
Os 1963, Power Study Shows
Fifty-five new industries, rep
resenting a capital investment
of $72 million, located on the
lines of the Georgia Power Com
pany during the first six months
of 1964, E. A. Yates Jr., vice
president and manager of the
company’s area development de
partment, announced this week.
Tliis compares with 34 new in
dustries, with an investment of
$25 million, that began opera
tion in the power company's
service area during the first six
months of 1963.
All facilities as reported by the
power company are manufac
turing or processing plants, each
with a minimum capital invest
ment of $50,000 and employing
at least 10 workers.
In addition to the new plants,
63 existing industries expanded
their operations during the first ■
six months of 1964. Total invest
ment in these expanded fa
cilities was $62,475,000. During
the first six months of 1963, a
total of 41 manufacturing plants
increased their productive ca
pacity at a cost of $13,035,000,
