The marriage was performed
by Judge N. Kurn of Chicago on
October 31. The bride wore a
winter white knit suit with a
white veil and black accessories.
Her corsage was a white orchid.
The bride’s only attendant,
Mrs. Ramona Pickle, a cousin,
wore a pink wool dress with
black accessories.
The bride graduated from
Chattooga High School in 1962.
She is the sister of Mrs. Shirley
Grogan, Mrs. Rebecca Dyer,
Misses Dorothy and Marlene
Bowling and Dwight Bowling all
of Summerville.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Damas are
employed by Co-Op Electric
Company of Chicago, 111. They

An attendance goal of 200 has !
been set at the Summerville I
Church of God, it has been an
nounced
"Patty White Gurley Day” will
be observed Sunday as part of
the "Family Day” series. A
home-baked cake will be given
to the person who brings the
most persons to church and
some lucky child will receive a
silver dollar. In addition, moving
pictures will be made.

Tom Neal has been elected
president of the newly-organ
ized Junior Music Club at Sum
merville Elementary School.
The other officers are: Shelia
Parker, vice president; Ricky
Wyatt, secretary; and Linda
Mull, treasurer.
The club is sponsored by the
Summerville Music Study Club
and the advisors are Mrs, Vir
ginia Elder. Mrs. Dorothy Luns
ford and Mrs. Alice Gordon. The
club is affiliated with the state
and national federations of
music clubs and its purpose is to
develop the musical talent of the
members and to stimulate musi
cal interest in the community,
the state and nation.
The advisors discussed at the
meeting last week the club's col
lect. pledge and hymn.

At HD Meet
Mrs. Charles Fowler Sr. was
hostess to the Summerville Home
Demonstration Club on Wednes
day, Nov. 18. on her home at 112
North Commerce St.
Mrs. Fred Peters, president,
presided. Mrs. B. E. Neal used
the 100th Psalm and another
poem for the afternoon’s devo
tional which were in the spirit
of Thanksgiving.
Profits amounting to $49.25
were reported by the treasurer,
Mrs. Irene Doster, which made
a total of $80.93 in the treasury.
The afternoon’s offering was
$2.49.
Mrs. L. C. Turner Sr., chair
man of the nominating commit
tee. presented the name of Mrs.
Rice Morgan for club president.
The acceptance vote was unan
imous.
Mrs. Luke Young, manager of
the Chattooga County Home, was
present to give sizes of clothing
to be purchased for residents of
the home. Mrs. Turner and Mrs.
Young were requested to pur
chase the items. The club also
voted to send S2O to the T. B.
Fund to be used for patients
from Chattooga County.
It was decided to have a
Christmas luncheon for the De
cember meeting, the place to be
secured later.
Mrs. Peggy Osgood presented
the program, giving a resume of
her trip to Hawaii to attend the
National Convention of Home
Demonstration Clubs. She
showed color slides of the man
ufacturing places she visited on
three islands. She was the only
representative from this district.
Delicious refreshments were
served by the hostess.

Country 9 Name
Os New Club
“Town and Country Club” is
the name of the new Home Dem
onstration Club formed near
Summerville.
The name was chosen at a
meeting of the group Friday at
the Extension Service Clubhouse
in Summerville.
Mrs. Charles Marks gave a
demonstration on Christmas
decorations. She used a plastic
detergent bottle for one, made a
centerpiece from candy and a
coat hanger, ma d ea hanging
cage from coat hangers and
filled it with pine cones, and
made a door swag using pine
limbs and cones.
The December meeting will be
a covered dish luncheon and
gifts will be exchanged.
The roll call was answered with
a thanks verse from the Bible.

The wedding will take place at
4 o’clock Saturday, Dec. 5, at the
South Summerville Baptist
Church. A reception will follow
at the home of the bride’s par
ents.

with Southern Finance also of
Atlanta.
No formal invitations will be
issued to the wedding but all
friends and relatives are invited.

The 24 clubs will be working
together on the show entitled
“An Old Fashioned Christmas
At Home”. There will be num
erous displays and exhibits.
There will also be a big bazaar
and food will be available to
those coming to the show at
mealtime.
There will be a charge of 50
cents for adults, 25 cents for
school children and no charge
for preschoolers.
