40th Wedding Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Walter M. Elliott
celebrated their 40th wedding
anniversary at their home on
Wood Street in Summerville on
Thursday.
A traditional Thanksgiving
dinner was held, being climaxed
with the serving of a white four
tiered anniversary cake trimmed
with delicate pink rosebuds.
Twenty-nine persons attended,
including: Mrs. Sam Burton,
Henagar, Ala.; Mrs. Willard
Elliott and children, Lyerly; Mr
and Mrs. Raymond Elliott and
children, Elba, Ala.; Mr. and Mrs.
Gilbert Freeman and children,
Mrs. Parks

Elliott, Elba, Ala.
Their eldest son, Martin, was
killed in 1945 during World War
11. They have eight grandchil
dren.

geldale Tavern Saturday.
The honoree was presented a
set of stainless steel in her
chosen pattern.

an arrangement of white chry
santhemums interspersed with
wedding bells.

The groom’s father performed
the ceremony, which was held at
6 o’clock.
A background of magnolia
leaves and ivy was flanked by
baskets of white gladioli and
candelabra holding burning
white tapers.
Nuptial music was presented
by Mrs. Jerry Bridges, vocalist,
and Miss Diane Lewis, organist.
Mrs. Bridges sang “Because” and
“O, Promise Me”.
Ushers were Mike Walker and
Kyle Anderson both of Loudon,
Tenn. John Rainwater, Etowah,
Tenn., was his brother’s best
man.

ant. Miss Wilson wore a pastel
blue street-length dress with a
full satin skirt and a bodice of
satin covered in lace. Her head
piece was a matching blue veil

with black accessories and the
orchid from her bridal bouquet.
Mrs. Rainwater is presently
residing with her parents while
her husband continues his edu
cation at a Louisville, Ky.

Miss Marilyn Bryant, - bride
elect of Gordon Allen, was en-1
tertained at a luncheon Satur
day given by Mrs. Bobby Lee
Cook at Riegeldale Tavern.
Twenty-five friends of the
honoree were invited.
The menu included chicken
breast on rice, eggplant cas
serole, broccoli with Hollandaise
sauce, cranberry salad, straw
berry parfait, rolls and coffee.
The hostess presented the
honoree with a piece of sterling
in her chosen pattern and a cor
sage.
Mrs. Joe Hays, mother of the
hostess, met the guests at the
door. In the receiving line with

The bride, given In marriage
by her father, chose a street
length dress of Chantilly lace
and satin. The sleeves were
pointed at the wrist and the veil
of tulle fell from a crown of
Chantilly lace, satin and seed
pearls. She carried a prayer book
covered with a white orchid,
trenched carnations, lilies of the
valley and streamers.
A reception followed the cere
mony and those serving were
Mrs. Raymond White and Mrs.
Oliver Pledger.
