Celebrate Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Langston, who were mar
ried 25 years ago in the Georgia state capitol building
basement, celebrated their silver anniversary with
open house Thursday at their home, 46 First St.,
Trion.
The Langstons had plan
ned to be married in Trion,
their home town, but de
cided on impulse while on a
Sunday outing in Atlanta to
be married then and there.
Langston’s brother, Howard,
who was with them, was best
man and the Rev. Paul A.
Meigs, pastor of the Atlanta
First Baptist Church at that
time, was hurriedly called to
serve as the officiating min
ister.
“We had thought we’d be
married quietly with very
few other persons present,"
recalls Mrs. Langston, “but
they were painting the cap
itol building at that time
and about 100 painters came
into the basement to watch."

granddaughters, Karen and
Melody Bennett and Cathy
Ann Tucker.
The Langston home was

white for the anniversary
and about 25 friends called

Club met at the Extension
Clubhouse on Friday, Dec.
18.

recipes.
Members exchanged gifts
and had lunch. Mrs. Mary
Marks read a new year’s
resolution to the members
and the devotional was giv

ed to the sunshine commit
tee.
The next meeting will be
at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15,

Bride of A. G. Dunson Jr.
Miss Sue Osborne Weems of Lyerly became the
bride of Albert G. Dunson, Jr., of Summerville, on
Sunday afternoon in the Summerville First Presby
terian Church.
The Rev. William Hotchkiss performed the dou-
ble ring ceremony and music
was presented by Mrs. B. B.
Brogdon, organist, and Mrs.
E. M. Stone, soloist.
The bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. John F.
Weems, of Lyerly. The bride
groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Albert G. Dunson, of
Summerville.
Given In marriage by her
father, the bride wore a
wedding gown of white peau
de sole fashioned with a
fitted bodice, long sleeves
and a cathedral train. Her
shoulder-length veil was
worn with a small crown and
she carried an arrangement
of phalaenopsls orchids
feathered with white carna
tions and stephanotls tied
with white velvet ribbon.
Mrs. William T. Weems
was matron of honor and
bridesmaids were Miss Car
olyn Jackson, Miss Betty
Hamner and Miss Martha
James. Their street-length
red velvet gowns had fitted
bodices with bell skirts and
were worn with small pill
box hats of matching ma
terial and long white gloves.
Each attendant carried a
bouquet of white carnations
and small orchids tied with
red velvet ribbon.
Mr. Dunson was his son’s
best man and groomsmen
were Jerry Bauchlllon, Don
Black, William T. Weems
and Sanford A. Dunson.
Following the ceremony,
Mr. and Mrs. Weems enter
tained with a reception In
the church reception hall.
Mrs. Weems was attired in a
dusty crepe dress with lace
top, matching accessories
and a white orchid corsage.
The mother of the bride
groom wore a beige dress of
peau de sole with lace top,
matching accessories and a
white corsage.
The bride’s grandmothers
were in the receiving line.
Mrs. Thomas S. Weems wore
a blue brocade jacket dress
and Mrs. Will Osborne wore
a blue lace dress. Those as

ern honoring the bride and
her attendants.

the attendants a string of

Mrs. Irene Doster was

meeting of the Summerville
Home Demonstration Club
at her attractive home on
Highland Avenue at noon
Thursday, Dec. 17. Mrs. Fred
Peters and Mrs. L. C. Turner,
Sr., assisted in serving. Each
member present brought a
covered dish.
Mrs. C. S. Fowler, Sr., gave
the devotional. Miss Omie
Wiley gave a demonstration
on arranging Christmas and
other decorations, using
common weeds and seed
pods. Rabbit tobacco, ivy
leaves, pine cones, etc., were
painted different colors and
pearlized by spraying with
pearl paint which gives a
soft, greyish pearl effect.
Artificial flowers may be
treated in the same way.
Each member present
brought a gift and a game
was played to choose the de
sired gift. Mrs. J. E. Baker
planned and led the enter
tainment features.
Miss Wiley installed the
officers for 1965 who are:
