Goof-Offs
Do you realize that one
half of this year Is gone?
What have you accom
plished? I truly hope you
have many answers for this
question, but I’m sorry to
say that some will not have
any answers. Yes, many
students will not have an
swers for this question be
cause they are what are
known as goof-offs. Never
doing their homework or not
answering questions in class
is their trademark. You can
always recognize one be
cause of the way he sits in
class and daydreams. But
what can we do about this
person? I believe that a
goof-off can be helped. He
just needs a little push, and
maybe you’re just the per
son to give that little push.
Goof-offs don’t want to be
like they are—they just
don’t know how to be any
different.
Yes, this year is one half
over But still we can help
many people make the
grade for the last two quar
ters if we will only push
Who will you help?

DEBATE TEAM— Here are the members of the
Chattooga High debate team. They are (left to
right) Pam Hubler, Jon Payne, David Bailey and
Mary Alice Doster.
Editorial
Let’s Build a
Football Stadium!
Everyone is aware of the
trite expression, “You get
what you pay for.”
We students of Chattooga
County are getting one of
the best school plants In the
state of Georgia, the south
east or the United States, for
that matter.
When this building was
planned, it was felt that
enough money would be
available to build the build
ing and a football stadium.
The cost of the new Chat
tooga High School was great
er than expected and there
fore no money was available
to build a football field.
We want a football sta
dium and we are willing to
work and support any proj
ect that will make money to
help build the stadium.
The students of Chattooga
High are determined to do
their part. The students
have started a contribution
campaign and are request
ing that all interested per
sons support this campaign
to build a CHS stadium.
Resolutions
Aired by
Rev. Driver
The Rev Mack Driver of
the Summerville Methodist
Church was guest speaker of
the Senior FIT A on Thurs
day at activity period. Mr.
Driver’s topic was “Putting
Resolutions Into Orbit."
The most outstanding
points discussed were wheth
er or not a person could tell
if his New Year's resolution
had true value or only out
side value and are if he was
sure that was what he want
ed.
The Rev. Mr. Driver stated
that when you launched
your resolution into orbit,
it's not the biggest or the
most spectacular one that
counts. It’s the one that has
the most value to your life.
The main highlight was a
game concerning resolutions.
The F.H.A. girls thought of
words that concerned the
resolutions they had made
that began with the letter I.
It was pointed out that
when you launch your reso
lutions. you are committing
your life Be sure that you
make no mistakes. You are
what you make of yourself
Most people can give good
excuses for failing to do
what they don’t want to do

On the negative team,
David Bailey and Mary Alice
Doster will debate LaFay

Calhoun in order to prepare

Monday Is
Holiday at
Q H. S.
On Monday, the halls of
CHS will be very quiet. All
you’ll hear will be teachers
rattling papers, filing cards,
searching for lost name
cards and screaming now
and then.
Yes, it’s Record Day at
CHS again and the students
will be given a day to spend
idly at the drugstore, at the
barbecue place, at home or
doing something very ex
citing.
This particular holiday is
a step forward in the teach
ing profession. By this we
give our sometimes “over
worked” teachers a day to
work endlessly at recording
and grading nine weeks test
papers.
“C” CLUB
HOLDS INITIATION
Lemons, eggs and all kinds
of tricks were played on the
“new" members of the “C”
Club This initiation was
held last Thursday. The
girls came dressed as boys
and boys came dressed as
girls. Several of the tortures
administered by old mem
bers were the eating of raw
eggs and lemons. If you no
ticed someone walking or
crawling up the halls they
were just going through one
of the tricks. By 3:00 o’clock
all the “new” members
were ready to go home and
try to remove all the lipstick
and eggs from their clothes.
The club consists of mem
bers of basketball and foot
ball teams and cheerleaders.
