in Dalton was the scene
Sunday afternoon, June 4,
at 3 o'clock for the wedding
of Miss Peggy Ann York and
Dale Gregory Westbrook
The Rev. Jim W Winn per
formed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter
of Mr and Mrs. Sam H.
York. Jr., of Dalton. Mr. and
Mrs. F S Westbrook, of
Cloudland, are parents of
the bridegroom.
Miss Janice Woody, organ
ist. presented a program of
wedding music. She also
accompanied the Rev. Lan
don T Carey, soloist, as he
sang "O n e Hand. One
Heart", "O Promise Me" and
"The Lord's Prayer".
Forming a setting for the
exchange of vows was a
background of palms, high
lighted by branched and
spiraled candelabra holding
lighted white tapers.
Sam York gave his daugh
ter in marriage. She was at
tired in a floor-length gown
of white silk organza over
taffeta, enhanced by a trim
of chantilly lace The fitted
bodice featured a trim of
lace, sprinkled with seed
pearls, and long sleeves
which extended to points
over the wrists. A chapel
train formed a back interest.
Her headpiece of seed pearls
held her fingertip veil of il
lusion and she carried a cas
cading bouquet of orchids
and stephanotis, centered by
an orchid She was the 188th
bride to carry an heirloom
handkerchief belonging to
Mrs Jack Arth
Miss Dorene Martin was
the bride’s maid of honor
She wore a street-length
dress of yellow satin and
carried a nosegay of white
shasta daisies Miss Betty
Jordan, attired in a dress of
green satin, was bridesmaid
She also carried a nosegay
of white shasta daisies
Pamela Travillian served
as flower girl and Donnie
Biles was ringbearer
F S Westbrook performed
the duties of best man for
his son Usher-groomsmen
were Ronald Taylor. Bobby
York and Max Caylor.

ding, Mrs. York chose a dress
of blue lace over taffeta,
complemented by matching
accessories and an orchid
corsage.
Mrs. Westbrook, mother of
the bridegroom, was attired
in a two-piece pink linen
ensemble with matching ac
cessories. Her corsage was
also an orchid.
Following the wedding
ceremony the couple was
entertained in Fellowship
Hall of the church with a
reception. Decorations
throughout the reception
room carried out a green
and white motif.
Miss Mary Jane York, sis
ter of the bride, kept the
bride's book. Assisting in
serving were Misses Lucretia
Dempsey, Elizabeth Demp
sey, Brenda Teal, Sharon
McNalley, Glenna Lingerfelt
and Judy Lingerfelt.
The couple left during the
afternoon for a wedding trip
to the Smoky Mountains, N.
C. For traveling, Mrs. West
brook chose a three-piece
orange ensemble with
white accessories and the
orchid from her bridal
bouquet. The couple will
reside at 215 Edgewood Dr.,
Athens.
On Saturday evening prior
to the wedding, Mr. and Mrs.
F S Westbrook entertained
at Oakwood Case with a din
ner Guests included the
bridal couple, members of
their wedding party and
out-of-town guests.
Among those entertaining
the bride prior to her mar
riage were Mesdames Verona
Woody, Donald Biles and H.
G Jordan, Misses Janice
Woody and Betty Jordan.
Mrs. Ol'le Fletcher. Mrs
John Knowles, and Randy,
and John Kellett, Jr . went
to West Georgia College.

The bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall R.
Lowry of Summerville. Mr.
Kyser is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Phillip J. Kyser of
Montevallo, Ala.
The bride, who was given
in marriage by her father,
wore a gown of silk peau de
soie. Appliques of alencon
lace — with seed pearls —
featured the trim at the
hemline and on the waist.
The tiered crown of seed
pearls and lace held a full
elbow veil of imported illu
sion. The bride carried a
cascade arrangement of
stephanotis and roses, cen
tered with white orchids.

of soft pique and an orchid
corsage.
Following a wedding trip,
the couple will be at home
in Auburn, Ala., where both
are students at Auburn Uni
versity.
