At Georgia Tech
Awarded Plaque
On Honors Day
Kelly Hudson, Jr., son of
Mr. and Mrs. W. K. Hudson
of Summerville, received a
bachelor of science degree
in textiles from the Georgia
Institute of Technology June
10, 1967.
Graduation ceremonies for
approximately 1,450 candi

were held by the school in
the Fox Theater.
At Tech’s Honor Exercises
on June 1, Kelly was awarded

as the outstanding graduate
in the textile school for the
year 1967. These special
awards were given at cere
monies in the auditorium of
the Van Leer Electrical En
gineering Building.
The Delta Kappa Phi
award is based on outstand
ing scholastic performance,
ability and leadership. His
name will be perpetuated on
the plaque in the textile
school as a continuing in
spiration for all future tex
tile students.
The graduate is married
to the former Mary York of
Summerville. The young cou

Road, Signal Mountain,
Tenn.
Mr. Hudson has accepted a
position with Du Pont in
Chattanooga.
It’s a Little
Different Now
More than three quarters
of a million people violated
the law of a recent Sunday
at Coney Island, but police
men on duty did nothing
whatsoever about it.
The law was an 1888
statute making it illegal to
wear any bathing suit at
Coney Island except one
“consisting of twilled flan
nel, made of one piece, with
pantaloons and a coat over
the body garment, which
should fit loose, be buttoned
and not tied, and have no
unnecessary appendage.”
Officials are working to
draw up a new statute more
in keeping with today’s brief
trunks for men and Bikinis
for the ladies.

A Los Angeles musician
called police during the in

and reported that two of his
prized instruments—a flute
and a piccolo — had been
stolen.
When the officers arrived,
he explained that he had
locked the rest of his in
struments in his car. Then
he went back on stage to
finish the show.
The performance over, the
musician found that the
other instruments — three
flutes, a clarinet and an alto
saxaphone—had been taken
from his sports car, parked
next to the officer’s patrol
