sleeves and a veil of white
illusion, made by her moth
er. She carried a white Bible
—topped by a white carna
tion — with white streamers
and lilies of the walley.

Picture Matting Is Project
For Little Sand Mtn. Club
The June meeting of the
Little Sand Mountain Home
Demonstration Club was
held In the home of Mrs.
Lola Mathis.
Each member brought a
covered dish and a delicious
lunch was spread at the
noon hour.
Mrs. Paul Youngblood gave
a demonstration on picture
matting. Mrs. Doris Burton
of Rome, talked on the dif
ferent types of pictures:
crewel embroidery, rlc rac,
prints, seeded roosters and
plaques made of burlap with
vines on the front. Mrs. Lil
lie Alexander showed the

Ronnie Pettyjohn served
the bridegroom as best man.
The mother of the bride
wore a dress of navy crepe,
accented with white acces
sories. Her corsage was of
white carnations.

a corsage of white carna
tions.
A reception was held in
the home of the bride’s par
ents following the ceremony.
A color scheme of yellow and
white was used throughout
the house. The yellow and
white wedding cake was a
gift of the bride’s brother,
S/Sgt. Billy Williams, who is
stationed in Turkey.
The couple is at home in
Pennville.

Macon Meeting
The 400 students from
throughout Georgia who are
attending the fourth annual
Governor’s Honors Program
being held on the campus of
Wesleyan College are find
ing that learning can be ex
citing and fun.
The program is designed to
provide challenging and en
riching experiences, which
are not usually available
during the regular school
year, for the students who
are selected as academically
gifted or exceptionally tal
ented.
Attending the conference
from the Chattooga County
area is Debbie Hix.
No grade or credit is given
for the program in which
learning for the sake of
learning only is stressed.
The faculty is composed of
well-qualified and dedicated
teachers who find working
with these students to be a
stimulating experience.
Margaret O. Bynum, edu
cational consultant for Pro
grams for the Gifted, Geor
gia State Department of Ed
ucation, is director of the
program. Miss Bynum holds
a BA degree in education
from Alabama College and a
MS degree in special educa
tion (area of the gifted)
from Syracuse University.
The students are nomi
nated in one of eight major
curricular areas. These In
clude English, modern for
eign language, mathematics,
natural sciences, social
sciences, art, drama and
music.
In addition to intensive
work in his particular field,
each student also has the
opportunity to select an in
terest area for exploratory
work, to participate in a full
physical education program,
and a series of special events
