shall Tippins at Daytona
Beach, Florida, last week.

make their home while Sgt.
Brown is stationed with the
army. They have been the

cently returned from a tour
duty in Korea.

Celebrates 92nd Birthday
Mrs. Leila Groover, a life
time resident of Walker
County who is now residing
at Valley View Rest Home in
Rome, recently celebrated
her 92nd birthday.
Mrs. Groover is the widow
of the late Homer Groover,
who died in April 1916. They
were married in 1904 and
had 3 children, Mrs. Joe
Nucholls of Simpsonville,
S. C.; John P. Groover of
Route 3. Summerville; Gor-

Mrs. Groover was the
daughter of the late John
M. Clarkson and Amanda
Lawrence Clarkson. She was
a member of a family of 10
children. She has only one
brother living, R. R. Clark
son of LaFayette, who is 80
years old.
Mrs. Groover enjoys good
health and enjoys knitting
and sewing, making aprons
by hand and quilt tops. Mrs.
Groover corresponds with
many friends and relatives.
Mrs. Durand Crowder and
Mrs. Melvin Clarkson served
cake and punch to all the
residents in her wing of the
rest home.

Carolyn Howell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Howell,
of Trion, became the bride of Muri L. Lloyd, of Trion,
July 1 at the home of the bride's parents. Rev Buddy
Brown officiated. The bride was given in marriage by her
father. Rachel Howell was matron of honor. Charles
(Dink) Willingham served as best man. The reception
was given by the parents of the bride and groom imme
diately following the wedding. Those assisting in serving
were Mrs. Maxwell Meadows and Mrs. Jimmy Collette.
After a wedding trip to North Carolina and the Smokies,
the couple will reside In Trion.

Hutchins have returned
from an interesting trip to
California. En route they
visited Hoover Dam, Las
Vegas, Nevada, driving
parallel with Death Valley
to Los Angeles, for a week's
stay with their daughter.
Janice Ruth. While there
they visited many points of
interest, including China
Town and the Rose Bowl. On
Saturday, they crossed the
border into Tijauna, Mexico,
accompanied by their
daughter, Janice Ruth. On
the way home they crossed
the border again at Jefax
Cintad, Mexico. On a per
vious trip they visited the
Grand Canyon, Disney Land,
Hollywood and Beverly Hills,
where many famous movie
stars live.
