Recent Social Event
A candlelight service set
the scene for an impressive
double ring ceremony which
united in marriage Miss
Laura Kathryn Stowe and
Samuel Arthur Bowman at
Ridgeview Baptist Church.
LaFayette. on June 24 with
the Rev. Clifford C. Housch,
uncle of the bride, and the
Rev. Ewin Hall, pastor of the
church, officiating.
The church was beauti
fully decorated with eight
branched candelabra, en
twined with huckleberry,
with a background of arch
candelabrum, with a center
tree candelabra decorated
with huckleberry and hold
ing white, burning tapers. A
white prayer bench was
flanked by huckleberry and
two large, white columns
that held gladioli, astors and
majestic daisies on each
side. The family pews were
marked with tall standards
topped with single candles
entwined with huckleberry
and the whole altar and
pulpit were draped in white
with scattered wisteria.
Rickey Woods, cousin of
the bride, and Ronald Hall
were candlelighters.
The bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Russell
Stowe, of LaFayette, and
the granddaughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Stowe, Sr.,
and the late Mr. and Mrs.
Clifford C. Housch, Sr., all
of Summerville Route 3.
The bridegroom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bow
man, of Kensington, and the
grandson of Arthur McDan
iels and the late Mrs. Mc-
Daniels and the late Mr. and
Mrs. Samuel Bowman, of
Kensington.
A program of nuptial
music was presented by Mrs.
Nichols-Cochran Wedding
Event of Last Saturday
Edna Mae Cochran and
Clabirn L. Nichols were
united in marriage at 6 p.m.
Saturday, July 8. at the
home of Miss Inez Smith
with the Rev. A. A. Tanner
officiating. A group of rela
tives and friends witnessed
the ceremony.

The mother of the bride
chose for her daughter’s
wedding a light pink two
piece Alencon lace dress
with white accessories. She
wore a white orchid corsage.
The bridegroom’s mother
wore a pink whipped cream
dress with black accessories
and a white orchid corsage.
Following the ceremony, a
reception was given by the
bride’s parents at the Stoker
Recreation Center.
The bride chose as her
traveling outfit for a trip to
the Smokies, a pink, sleeve
less sheath dress of lustrous
rayon and acetate with a
cutaway jacket with beige
accessories. She wore the
white orchid from her
bride’s bouquet.

June 10 at the beautiful
home of Mrs Cavin. The ta
bles were adorned with a
variety of garden flowers.

The First Baptist Church
in Summerville was the set
ting for a kitchen shower
given for Miss Alexander on
the evening of June 24.

The dining hall was beau
tifully decorated with sum
mer flowers arranged in
kitchen utensils to carry out
the shower theme. The re
freshment table was over
laid with a red cloth and
centered with a large, white
ceramic soup tureen filled
with flowers. Coffee was
served from a white ceramic
coffee service.
The bride-elect was at
tired in a yellow shirtwaist
dress. Her corsage was made
of small kitchen gadgets.
She received a variety of
useful gifts and was pre
sented an electrc skillet by
the hostesses.
On Thursday evening,
June 29, Miss Alexander was
honored with a lingerie
shower at the mountain
home of Mrs. Reuben Lyons
of Cloudland. Co-hostesses
were Mrs. Amos Green, Mrs.
Luther Smith, Mrs. Max
White and Miss Sharon
White.
A lovely arrangement of
lovely white shasta daisys
served as a centerpiece on
the dining table. Several oth
er arrangements of garden
flowers graced the living
room and porch area.
A delicious dessert plate
was served with coffee.
The bride-elect’s corsage
was made of white roses and
complimented her costume
of brown and white linen.

The prospective bride

He is now serving with the
United States Navy and is
presently stationed at Jack
sonville, Florida.
The wedding is planned for
July 22 at 2:00 p.m. at the
Trion First Baptist Church.
