Wed in Candlelight Service
In a charming candlelight
ceremony at Calvary Baptist
Church Saturday, December
23, Miss Hilda Jean Smith of
Summerville and Ricky La
mar Warren of Summerville
were wed.
The bride is the daughter
of Mrs. Carolyn Smith of
Summerville. The parents of
the bridegroom are Mr. and
Mrs. Austin H. Warren of
Summerville.
The Rev. Doyle Waters was
the officiating minister and
the music was provided by
Larry Durham, organist, and
Miss Peggy Gross, vocalist.
Miss Gross sang “Whither
Thou Goest.”
A large candelabra en
twined with a large gold
rope, and laced with huckle
berry greenery holding white
tapers was a focal point in
the decorations, which also
included basket arrange
ments of glads, mums and
pompoms. The pews were
marked with white love
knots.
Robert Warren of Sum
merville was the best man
and ushers were Austin H.
Warren Jr. of Jacksonville,
Fla., Herman Dewitt Martin,
Robert Tucker both of Sum
merville.

of honor. Bridesmaids were

The attendants wore red
velvet dresses. Their head
pieces were red velvet bows
and they carried white car
nations and lily of the valley
with white velvet ribbons.
The flower girl, who was at
tired in a red velvet dress,
carried a basket of red rose
petals.
Given in marriage by her
uncle, Leonard Smith, the
bride wore a gown of ivory
peau de soie designed along
princess lines with appliques
of Alencon lace re-embroi
dered with seed pearls ex-

length and of Belgian lace.

reception was given by Mrs.
Carolyn Smith at her home
in honor of the couple.
A three-tiered wedding
cake topped by a miniature
bride and groom was the
focal point. Mrs. Lamar All
mon kept the bride’s book.
Misses Paula Crouch. Paula
Hardeman. Nancv Hale and
Cecilia Hurley served. Miss
Debbie Wilson provided the
music for the reception.
Mrs. Smith wore a green
silk jacket dress with green
accessories and a white
orchid corsage.
Mrs. Warren was attired
in a blue dress with a lace
jacket and a white orchid.
For her wedding trip, the
bride wore a green and
brown plaid wool suit with
brown accessories.
