The marriage of Miss Re
becca Dianne Hall, daughter of
Mr and Mrs. Hill Hall of
Menlo, and Sammy Douglas
Ballard, son of Gene Ballard of
Menlo and the late Mrs.
Ballard, was solemnized July
12 at the Menlo Methodist
Church. The Rev. Lewis Pope
officiated at the impressive
double-ring ceremony.
In the center of the church
was a large massive arrange
ment of white gladioli, white
majestic daisies, pompon
chrysanthemums and gip, ar
ranged on a while pedestal
column On each side was
placed a spiral candelabrum,
entwined with southern
greenery and holding white
burning tapers These were
lojned by a pair of biass tree
candelabra On the second
floor level was a pan of triangle
candelabra, flanked by a pair
of oval an lies All were dec
orated with southern sinilax

Iraditional wedding music
was presented by Miss lune
Wyatt, organist, and Mrs.
James Prince, vocalist Mis
Prince sang, “Whither Thou
Goest,” “Because'' and “Ihe
Lord’s Prayer.”
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a gown
of candelight ivory peau de
sole The moulded bodice was
designed with a batteau neck
line and the long sleeves were
trimmed with sprays of lace
appliques which ended in
scallops over the hands
Sprays of scalloped lace ap
phques and seed pearls adorned
the Aline skirt and built-in
chapel train. Her elbow veil of
I nghsh illusion was attached to
French loops of ivory peau de
soie Ihe bride carried a cas
cade bouquet of stephanotis,
leather leaf fern, and a yellow
hybrid orchid

Bridesmaids were Miss Ann
Ballard, sister of the bride
groom. Miss Carol Hall, cousin
o! the bride, and Mrs. David
Hall, sister in law of the bride.
They wore gowns of mint
green sheer doited swiss, fea
turing a round neckline and
Hared bell shaped sleeves. The
empire waistline was trimmed
with matching lace. They wore
headpieces of mint green
dotted swiss bows, holding cas
cades of green tulle. They
earned cascade bouquets of
yellow daisies and leather leaf
fern.
Mr. Ballard served his son as
best man. Usher-groomsmen
were Don Ballard and Tommy
Ballard, brothers of the bride
groom, and David Hall, brother
of the bride.
For her daughter's wedding,
Mrs Hall selected a dress of
turquoise knit with a matching
headpiece and white acces
sones She wore a white royal
bouquet orchid with yellow
throat Mis. Ballard was attired
in a beige lace dress with
matching accessories. Her
corsage was a white royal
bouquet orchid tinted with
shrimp coloring.
RECEPTION
following the wedding, the
bride's parents hosted a beauti
ful reception in the fellowship
hall of Ilie church.
Mrs. Gene Hutchins kept
the bride’s book, which rested
on a table with a green and
white memory candle,
mounted in a silver bowl with
an arrangement of daisies and
other spring flowers.
The four tiered wedding
cake, decorated with yellow
roses and topped with wedding
bells, was served by Mrs.
Tommy Ballard and Mrs.
Richard Rinehart. Fruit punch
was served from a silver punch
bowl by Mrs. Billy I dwards.
Delicious mints, nuts and
cheese straws were served by
Mrs Joe Hill, Mis. Riley
Mrs. Mildred Denson of Dry
Valley was spend the day guest
ol her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Arthur Morrison, and Lina Mae
Saturday. Those visiting the
Morrison home Saturday after
noon included Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Wood and Mrs. Bill
Bentley.
Get well wishes are ex
tended Mrs. I dith Ray, who is
a patient at Chattooga Hos
pital.
friends of Miss Bertha Hol
land will be glad to learn she
has been able to return home
following two weeks’ stay in
Floyd Hospital.

Tenn., were weekend guests of
Belly Lee’s parents, Mr. and
Mis. James “Buddy” Busbin of
Summerville. Betty Lee and
Roger attended services at the
Lyerly Church of Christ Sun
day.
Mr. and Mrs Hamp Brewer’s
guests Sunday were Mr. and
Mrs Branson Gaylor of Rome
and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas
Brewer of Lyerly. Mr. and Mrs.
Joe D. Henderson, Wynn and
Glenn visited Mr. and Mrs. Earl
Jones and Margaret and W. N.
Kimbell Sunday. They also
visited Mrs. Edith Ray in Chat
tooga Hospital Sunday evening.

chose a green knit dress with
bone accessories. She wore the
yellow orchid from her bridal
bouquet.
The couple is now residing

nomics Club will hold its reg
ular monthly meeting, along
with a family picnic and swim
ming party, Friday, August 14,
beginning at 10 a.rn. They will
meet at Lyerly City Hall and
from there go to Bishop’s lake
side cabin on Lake Weiss, for
the activities of the day.
Miss Pam Tawzer, County
Home Extension Economist,
will give her demonstration fol
lowing the picnic, which will
be held at the noon hour. Club
members, their families and
friends are invited to attend.
