VERDE VALLEY TIMES
Preservation of our environ
ment is a very serious matter
with most conscientious citi
zens, but its espousal by those
seeking causes for which to
demonstrate can have ironic
and costly kickbacks. When the
activitists centered on Washing
ton for the “Earth Day”
demonstration, much was
preached about stopping pollu
tion, cleaning up the world we
live in. Shortly after, in protest
to the Cambodian action,
many of the same demon
strators were back, mixing anti-
American obscenities with
more pious commands to
“remember Mother Earth” . ..
Officials estimate the total cost
of de-polluting the antipollu
tion demonstration may come
to $200,000. As one Congress
man put it: “When the party is
over, it is Mr. and Mrs. Tax
payer who get taken to the
cleaners.”
