CHURCH RECEIVES DONATION
Herman Adams and J. P. Thornberry present a SSO
check on behalf of the Lookout Mountain CB Club
to the Rev. Levy Yon, pastor of the Pleasant Grove
Baptist Church. The money will be used toward
getting a well drilled for the church, which is lo
cated on Lookout Mountain.

HUBERT SPRAYBF.RRY
Hubert F. Sprayberry, 83,
of 104 Rossville Blvd., Trion,
died Friday, Aug. 28, at 8:30
p.m. in Trion Community Hos
pital. He was born in Chat
tooga County Nov. 22, I88(>,
and had spent his entire life
here. He was a former
employee of Riegel Textile
Corp., where he worked for
over 40 years, retiring 16 years
ago. He was a member of the
Trion Heights Baptist Church
and the Odd Fellows. He was
also a member of the Quarter
Century Club of Riegel
Surviving are his wife, Mrs.
Martha Sprayberry, Trion; one
daughter, Mrs. J. D. Pledger.
Jr., Summerville; two grand
children. Mrs. Leon Arnold,
Dalton, and Mrs. Kenneth
Strickland. Atlanta; a number
of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held
Sunday, Aug. 30. at 3 p.m.
from Trion Heights Baptist
Church with the Rev. James
Avantt and the Rev. George
Palmer officiating. Burial was

at the West Berryton Faith
Temple Saturday, Sept. 5. The
program will begin at 7:30
p.m.

route to Panama City, Fla.,
where they will be this week
on vacation.
This community was deeply
saddened Saturday upon learn
ing of the death of one of
Chattooga County’s well
known citizens, Hube Spray
berry, and extend to his family
their heartfelt sympathy.

Homer McWhorter and their
families in the death of their
brother, Gorden H. McWhorter
who passed away at a Chatta
nooga hospital Friday.

Champion Softball Team, will

N. Y., where they will partici

the death of their little grand
son, Hugh Whitfield. Also to

Little Hugh passed away last
week in an Atlanta hospital. He
and his father were injured in a
car accident in Atlanta last
Sunday.

Friends of R.C. Williams,
who was a patient at Chattooga
Hospital will be glad to know
he was able to return home last
Monday and is doing fine. Mr.
and Mrs. Carl Adams visited
him and Mrs. Williams Sunday
afternoon. Their son, Larry
Williams, who was confined to
the LaFayette Clinic several
days last week, returned home
last Wednesday and is much
improved.
Mr. and Mrs. Tate Giles,
William and Debra returned to
their home in Shreveport, La.,
last Thursday after spending
their vacation with his mother,
Mrs. Bernice Giles, and his
brother and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Ray Giles.

day evening dinner guests of
