Mobbs-Murphy Wedding

In a lovely late summer
wedding, Miss Kathy Elaine
Murphy, became the bride of
Billy Wayne Mobbs, Friday
evening, Sept. 11, in the Rhine
hart (Ala.) school auditorium.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Murphy of
Jamestown, Ala., and parents
of the bridegroom are Mr. and
Mrs. Joe L. Mobbs of Cedar
Bluff, Ala.
The auditorium was prettily
arranged for the occasion Four
seven-branched white wrought
iron candelabra, entwined with
ivy and holding white candles,
flanked the improvised altar.
Ferns and arrangements of
gladioli were on either side of
the candelabra. Brother C. T
Tidwell read the double-ring
marriage vows.
A program of nuptial music
was presented by Mrs. Lamar
Nixon, pianist, who played
“Melody of Love” and the
traditional processional and
recessional wedding marches
Mrs. Milton T. Miller of
Cedar Bluff, sister of the bride
groom, was matron of honor.
She wore a street-length blue
whipped cream dress fashioned
with an Empire waist with a
band of white lace insertion
threaded with blue ribbon at
the waist, puffed sleeves and a
round neckline. Her headpiece
was a blue band and short face
veil. She carried a single long
stemmed white chrysan
themum with a blue ribbon
bow.
Vickie Murphy and Sheila
Burgess, sisters of the bride,
were bridesmaids. They wore
identical street-length dresses,
similar headpieces, and each
carried a single long stemmed
white chrysanthemum with
blue ribbon bows.
Elaine Mobbs, sister of the
bridegroom, and Sherri Miller,
niece of the bridegroom, both
of I edar Bluff, were flower
girls They wore blue frocks
designed as the other honor
attendants and the same head
pieces. They carried a white
basket, trimmed with nylon
knit lace and blue ribbon bows,
filled with white mum petals.
Johnny Lemons and Bobby
Lemons, nephews of the bride,
were ring bearers. They carried
blue satin pillows
Phillip Murphy, brother of
the bride, and Gary Burgess
lighted the candles and also
served as groomsmen Michael
Mobbs of Rome served his
brother as best man
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, was lovely in her
aisle-length white satin wed
ding gown, fashioned with a
fitted Empire bodice trimmed
with lace, long puffed sleeves
with lace cuffs and a scooped
neckline. The silhouette skirt
fell into soft rich fullness Her
fingertip nylon knit illusion
veil was caught to a petal tiara
of seeded pearls and sequins.
She carried a white gift Bible,
topped with a bouquet of
white gladioli, and centered
with lace and white carnations
tied with satin ribbons that fell
gently into love knots.

Mrs. Murphy chose for her
daughter’s wedding a light blue
cotton knit dress with match
ing accessories Mrs. Mobbs
wore navy blue crepe with
white trim and white acces
sories for her son’s wedding.
Both mothers wore white car
nation corsages.
RECEPTION
Mr. and Mrs. Murphy enter
tained with a reception follow
ing the ceremony. The
appointed table was covered
1 with blue damask overlaid with
a white lace cloth. The three
tiered wedding cake, topped
with a miniature bride and
! bridegroom and blue doves,
was the centerpiece. Green
wedding punch was in a crystal
bowl. Nuts and mints nestled
in silver and crystal compotes.
Mrs. Max Murphy, aunt of
■ the bride, cut the wedding
cake. Misses Brenda Woodall,
Diane Canada and Vickie
Cooper assisted in serving and
entertaining. Mrs. Larry Teague
presided over the bride’s book.
For her wedding journey,
the bride changed into a blue
whipped cream dress, accented
with long sleeves. She wore the
white carnations of her bridal
bouquet Upon their return,
the couple will be at home in
Cedar Bluff as both are plan
ning to attend the winter ses
sions of college in Gadsden,
Ala.

entertained the members of the
wedding party and close
friends with an after-rehearsal
party.
