Grace
Good News
By George Westbrook
Eternal God, our Father, it
is wonderful to have received
Your gift of eternal life
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
We are grateful, You know our
hearts, that Jesus came that we
might have life, and that we
might have it more abundantly.
We ask You to guide us in our
Christian Life, and trust You
for victory as it is lived. We ask
this in Your Spirit through
Your only begotten Son.
Amen.
Are you really a Christian?
Have you definitely been
saved? Should you die right
now would you go to Heaven,
or would it be Hell? If you are
not saved then your greatest
need is to be saved. The only
thing keeping you from being
saved is your lack of repent
ance toward God, and faith
toward the Lord Jesus Christ.
God will save you now if you
will turn to Him for mercy and
receive His Son, Jesus, as your
Lord and Savior. The gift of
God is eternal life through
Jesus Christ our Lord.
Are you really a Christian?
Are you living a victorious
Christian life? Many true Chris
tians are failing in their Chris
tian life. This is not necessary.
The group will sing Sunday afternoon
at the East Armuch^e Baptist Church
and Tuesday evening at Highland
Avenue Baptist Church.
The Christian life should
always be a life of victory.
A Christian has Divine Life.
He is made alive by God. Eph.
2:1. He is born from above, of
the Spirit. (John 3:3-7) He is
given everlasting life. (John
10:28).
A Christian is privileged to
have infallible guidance. The
Bible, which was given by God
and is settled in Heaven, will
instruct correctly. The Holy
Spirit, Who indwells Christians,
will guide into all truth. (John
16:13)
Yes, provision for Christians
to be victorious in their present
life is sufficient. “God is able
to make all grace abound
toward you; that ye, always
having all sufficiency in all
things, may abound to every
good work.” Il Cor. 9:8
“There hath no temptation
taken you but such as is com
mon to man: but God is faith
ful, who will not suffer you to
be tempted above that ye are
able; but will with the tempta
tion also make away to escape,
that ye may be able to bear it.”
(I Cor. 10:13) There is no ex
cuse for being defeated in life,
Christian Brother. Some other
scriptures to ponder are: Phil.
IN MEMORIAM
In memory of my brother,
Willie M. Campbell, who de
parted this life July 25, 1964.
The blow was hard, the
shock severe ... We little
thought his death so near ...
Only those who have lost can
tell . .. the sad parting of one
we loved so well.
Sadly missed by his sister.
Mrs. (S. A.) Mattie Dillard
Just Curious . . .
SHELTON, Conn.-Sandy
Taylor, 5, found a discarded
washing machine on the side
walk near her home and
crawled in.
To get out took some crying
and help from neighbors, who
ripped off the front of the
machine and freed the
frightened little girl after some
30 minutes.
4:13,19; 11 Pet. 2:9; Jude 24.
If you are failing in your
Christian life then there is a
remedy. Confess and forsake
your sins and be cleansed. (1
John 1:9) Dedicate your all to
the Lord. Rom. 12:1,2 Have
confidence in God and His
promises. And be obedient to
God’s will. His Word will give
you light; His Spirit will em
power you; His Son is your
Lord.
Jesus said, “I am come that
they might have life, and that
they might have it more abun
dantly.” Christian, are you liv
ing a life of victory according
to God’s standards of success?
A Message to Voters
From CARL HAMMOND
We have around 20,000 citizens in Chattooga County
who put their tax dollars in the county treasury. Around
10,000 have fire protection from our city fire depart
ment. This leaves about half of the county with a high
er insurance rate and no coverage. If city and county
would combine the cost of operation of our fire depart
ment, we could extend our coverage county-wide. Our
fire department does an extra good job, but they are
limited.
The county should have an ambulance service, and a
doctor at the hospital.
As for roads and bridges, over 30 bridges in the county
are hazardous. Rails needs replacing, markers placed,
ditches cleaned to prevent flooding of yards and high
ways. It isn’t too much comfort to the person whose yard
is flooded because of a filled ditch or a road that is dangerous in the winter months to
know that the county is in the black.
If I am elected your Commissioner I will work for all the county and not just some of it.
I will work with the hospital, Health Dept., the schools, anything that can be done to
make our county a better place to live. Some of you may say this will call for more
taxes—no, just better distribution—putting taxes on the things that all can benefit from.
Our neighboring counties have left us far behind in growth. Some 3,500 persons leave
our county each day to work in nearby counties. We can grow, and you, the voters,
will decide the issue. Will we sit here and let our problems grow, or will we do some
thing about it?
Let’s make our county one to be proud of by improving our roads, schools, hospital I
Let’s work together I I’m counting on you, the voter, to help me put some life in Chat
tooga County.
