HARRY POWELL
CANDIDATE FOR RE-ELECTION TO THE OFFICE OF
COUNTY COMMISSIONER
With the help of the people of Chattooga County, I have had seven years of accomplishments to the different de
partments of Chattooga County and during the last eight years I have had the privilege of operating the county
and placing the tax money where I thought it most needed.
For this fifteen years experience I owe everything to you for placing me in this position for two terms as Commis
sioner, plus 7 years as Warden.
Since being employed by Chattooga County, I have had the privilege to see several accomplishments that I personally have either directed or worked
with. I do not regret the extra hours I have given that my job does not require but every person on the payroll must be paid and the less foremen and su
pervisors we have give us more money to spend on our roads and other projects.
The person that handles the revenue of Chattooga County needs to know the roads, the condition of the roads and then he is able to say how much can
be spent on each project.
There are over 300 miles of paved roads in Chattooga County that I have helped pave. I will, if re-elected, continue this move towards every road in the
county that school buses and postmen travel be improved and paved.
Since being employed by the county, I personally have helped build new a jail, Sheriffs home, Health Center, Nursing Home, Library, improvements to
Courthouse, Hospital and Work Camp and many other projects without raising your county taxes.
Space will not permit the numerous improvements to our schools, recreation and other things you have helped me do and support.
The above improvements are completed and we would appreciate carrying out our program for four more years.
Your Help in This Race Will Be Greatly Appreciated and Your Trust Will Hot Be Betrayed

.BIRCHER! BIRCHER!
BIRCHER! BIRCHER!
Have you heard the cry of
THE BIRCHER BIRD-
Ihe other day I dreamed that I was looking thru a bird book and I come upon "The
Bircher Bird." This is a strange little critter. He has crossed eyes and therefore his views are
a little off. And he seems to function best when his head is in a fog.
You don't see Bircher Birds very often ... that’s because they are always out looking
for secret meetings. When they think they have found one you'll hear his call.. . Bircher!
Bircher!
The Bircher Bird becomes agitated whenever he sees the colors red, white and blue or
hears a school prayer.
I know this is a rather light view about what my opponent, a Washington politician, is
doing these days but you have to ask yourself just why doesn't Mr. Davis address himself to
the issues. Like, why he voted against prayer in schools, and why he voted time and again
for big government, higher taxes and kifhtionary practices in government. And why he vot
ed to send good to communist countries while our brave boys are dying in Vietnam.
Someone asked me the other day if Bircher Birds lay eggs and cdter thinking about it I
said... "Yes they lay the biggest eggs I ever saw ...in the Georgia 7th District anyway.''
I need and will appreciate your vote on August 8.
