INDIANS LOSE FINALE
The Chattooga Indians ended their season last Friday night on
a losing note to an awesome Coosa Eagle team by a score of 37-7.
The Eagles, who clash with West Rome this week for the region
championship, completely dominated play all four quarters. Their
amazing air attack netted 184 yards on 11 completions out of 26
attempts. Although their leading ground gainer did not play,
Coosa’s other running backs seemed to go anywhere they wished.
The Indians could get only one sustained drive going but they
capitalized on it for their only score of the night. For the second
straight week, there was only one pass completed in 11 tries.
Chattooga wound up with a mediocre 4-5-1 season with 12
seniors participating. Many of this year’s starters will be back and
the 1973-’74 Indians should finish near the top or even on it.
MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS
Congratulations must go to the following teams for their
accomplishments of the past week and the whole season: The
Atlanta Flames for fine play in their rookie season; Alabama and
its win over LSU, 35-21; the Hawks for beating Milwaukee and
gaining the top in the Central division of the NBA; the Falcons,
Georgia Bulldogs, and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets for great
victories last weekend; Miami and their undefeated season; the
U. S. World Cup golf team for finishing fourth and Richard Petty
on winning his 4th Grand National driving title.
PREDICTIONS
Last week’s predictions: 17 right, 7 wrong and 1 tie fora .783
percentage and a season’s total of 105 right, 28 wrong and 3 ties
for a .789 percentage.

Carrollton over Model by 15; Adairsville over Union County by

The
case of the
disappearing
paycheck and
what to
do about it
Some people learn the hard way. Pay
checks disappear fast.
Day-to-day living expenses eat up
a lot. And maybe part goes in the
savings account for this year’s vaca
tion or another immediate goal.
A good chunk of that money seems
to disappear by itself.
So it’s no wonder that when it
comes to long-term goals, or when an
emergency comes up, there simply
aren’t funds to meet the need.
Unless there was a nest egg build
ing up all that time.
A good way to build that nest egg
is with U.S. Savings Ronds. The easy
way to buy them is to sign up for the
Payroll Savings Plan whereyou work.
An amount you specify will be set
aside from your paycheck and used
to buy Bonds.
And while you’re going through
grocery bills, car repairs, vacation
weekends, kids’ toys and nights out
on the town, you’ll know you’re sav
ing money too.
That’s good to know.
