Annie Garner Friday after
noon.

MITE LEAGUE VIKINGS FETED

College will begin a master of
business administration degree
program in June, 1973, with
refresher courses beginning in
January, Dr. John R. Bertrand,
president, announced this
week.

The party was enjoyed by all.
Miss Shireman is engaged to
Micky Collins. Best wishes go

mation, Bertrand said, the
graduate degree in business will
meet a real need in the north
west Georgia area.

Rome Area Chamber of
Commerce, pointed out, “This
opportunity for young execu
tives in business and industry is
most gratifying. Our pride in
projecting Rome as the educa
tional center of northwest
Georgia is enhanced by this
announcement from Berry
College.”
“We are extremely happy,”
H. E. Frost, existing industries
chairman of the chamber of
commerce, added, “that Berry
College will offer the master of
business administration degree
for the Rome area. Past com
mittee chairman Harold Smith
has maintained a strong in
terest in this program for the
past few years, and we are
happy to have a part in meet
ing the educational needs of
our community.”
A meeting for all interested
persons will be held at 7 p.m.
Nov. 27 in Green Hall Audi
torium on the Berry College
campus, according to Dr Wil
liam C. Moran, Berry College
academic dean, to supply com
prehensive information, answer
questions and provide advice
on the new graduate degree.
Meanwhile, further informa
tion-including requirements

For program planning for
graduate courses and the re
fresher courses leading to
M.B.A. studies, the prospective
applicant is urged to contact
Dr. S. 1. Spector, Berry College
acting director of graduate
studies in business administra
tion, by writing him at the
college or by telephoning him,
232-5374, ext. 233, for an ap
pointment.
A minimum of 60 quarter
hours will be required for the
M.B.A. which will be a gen
eralist degree designed to pro
vide each student with a broad
general background in key
managerial functional areas.
The degree will include 40
quarter hours in core require
ments ai.d 20 quarter hours in
content fields.
Applicants wishing to earn
course credit but not work
toward the master’s degree
may apply for special status.
The graduate courses may be
audited without credit.
Four courses with under
graduate credit designed as re
fresher courses for the M.B.A.
degree will be offered at Berry
in the winter quarter beginning
Jan. 2. The courses include

courses will include Principles
of Finance, Principles of
Marketing and Management.
Registration for graduate
courses in the summer quarter
is scheduled June 11.
Berry began its master of
education degree program the
past June, and 69 students are
currently enrolled in the M.Ed.
program, and more than 120
have been formally admitted to
the program. The college’s first
M.Ed. degree graduates are an
ticipated in June 1973.
Berry’s decision to enter the
M.Ed. degree field the col
lege’s first graduate degree to
be offered was based on a
comprehensive survey of
teachers in the northwest Geor
gia area by the college and the
approaching Georgia State De
partment of Education require
ments for M.Ed. degrees for
teachers.

Trion Boy Is Party Honoree
Paul Elrod was feted with a
supper Thursday evening at his
home on Marsh Avenue in
Trion, prepared by his aunt,
Mrs. C. H. Irwin of Rome, in
celebration of his eighth birth
day anniversary.
A candle which has been lit
every birthday anniversary Paul
has had was used as a decora
tion.
Enjoying this event were the
honoree, his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Elrod, Mr. and Mrs.
C. H. Irwin, and Mr. and Mrs.
Roland Wardlaw of Rome.
Paul was the recipient of
