sponsored each year by the Summerville Civic Organi
zation.
Cantata Scheduled
The Sanctuary Choir of
Trion First Baptist Church will
present its Christmas cantata,
“Carol of Christmas,” on Sun
day, Dec. 17
The choir has been especial
ly busy in rehearsals for this
annual event.
Following the Sunday night
worship service Dec. 17, a
churchwide Christmas caroling
service is scheduled
night.
Mrs. Bob Dempsey and Mrs.
Julia Winkle were guests of Mr.
and Mrs. Paul Holt Wednesday
morning. In the afternoon they
were sightseeing at Cloudland
: and Mentone, Ala.

WASHINGTON The
Internal Revenue Service has
announced that landlords col
lecting rents in excess of those
allowed under the govern
ment’s rent-control programs
may have to pay penalties up
to $2,500 for each violation.

vitamins for the indigents. At
present, Mrs. Gayle West, Chat
tooga County Coordinator,
EO A, says emergency food
only is available on a one-time
basis. Counties affected would
include Walker, Dade, Catoosa,
along with Chattooga.
Among business to be dis
cussed will be a report of all
Head Start programs by the
Head Start Coordinator. Chat
tooga, Mrs. West reported, re
ceived a cut last year. Tom
Hogg is the new Head Start
director.
At the LaFayette meeting,
the Operations Director will
present a report of all Neigh
borhood Service Systems pro-
grams.
Also presented for discus
sion will be recent boundary
re-alignment information.
Mike Boyd, SEOO, will
make a presentation of a com
pensation wage plan for the
Agency, relating to the recent
administration reorganization
structure.
Mrs. West also reported that
her staff has made recent
surveys and have presented
needs to the Authority for dis
cussion at this meeting, to in
clude the following: recreation
for rural areas, nutritional and
health care for senior citizens,
day care service 24 hours a
day, a water supply for rural
areas, adult education, etc.
4-H’ers to Aid
Needy Children
The North Summerville
Elementary sixth grade boys
4-H Club met Dec. 6.
The meeting was called to
order by Mark Sentell. The
devotional and pledges were
given by Jon Wyatt, Randy
Weevie, and Phil Wofford.
Then Scott Selman and Steven
Strickland gave a short pro
gram.
Steven Strickland gave a
report on the bake sale held
Nov. 11. The proceeds from
the sale will be used to help
needy children at Christmas.
Then the meeting was
turned over to Mr. M. H.
Purcell, county agent, who
gave us a demonstration on
safety tips for the holidays.
Then the meeting adjourned.-
