To every reader of these lines, I repeat the old, old
message of Christmas: “God bless us everyone!! . . . ‘and on
earth peace, good will toward men’.’’-And, I’ll be seein’ ye,
with this thought:
The greatest News Bulletin ever released and/or issued.
“Fear not: for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy,
which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day
in the City of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.”
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

(Continued From Page 1-B)
shortages are just around the
corner for electricity customers
unless the company is allowed
a greater rate increase.
“When you turn on the
switch, the lights may or may
not come on,” he added.
Wansley said the company
will not be able to meet the
state’s future electric needs
unless it gets additional rate
relief.
“I dislike saying that,” he
added, “but I do want our
customers to know the truth.
If we do not get more relief,
there surely will be power
shortages and even rationing of
power in our state in the near
future,”
The power company official
said GPC plans to immediately
file for a rehearing and will be
prepared to go to court if
necessary to obtain additional
relief.
“We plan to do everything
possible to rectify this terrible
error,” Wansley said.
At least two attorneys, rep
resenting various groups in the
state, appeared as intervenors
in the Georgia Power case. One
was reported as saying, “Any
thing (increase) was too
much.”
II ig Increase
(Continued From Page 1-B)
will rise to approximately
$3,907,000 next year, under
the higher rates.
A local person who is mak
ing $5,000 at the present time
and paying $260 in social sec
urity taxes will pay $293 in
1973. The $7,500 earner will
go from $390 to $439 in taxes
and those with $9,000 incomes
will pay $527 instead of $468,
as at present.

Christmas Spirit
(Continued From Page 1-B)
Perhaps the spirit of the
Christmas season is best
summed up in this quotation
from a Billy Graham card by
Hallmark:
“God is always with us but
at Christmas we are more
intensely aware of his presence.
He looks out at us from the
faces of those we love. He
speaks to us amid the sounds
of bells and the anthems of
praise. And his greatest gift
comes to our hearts anew when
we hear the beautiful Christ
mas story once again . . . and
believe.”

Powell said he had received
numerous requests that this be
done so property owners can
receive credit on their 1972
income tax returns.
“This method of collecting
taxes will be instituted in the
tax commissioner’s office,”
Powell said.
