The Summerville News, Thurs., Dec. 21, 1972
THIS IS A SWITCH!
A Santa Barbara motorist is suing the California Highway
Patrol for $35,000 for failure to arrest her for drunk driving last
year.
She was found asleep at the wheel of her car, which was low
on fuel. The officer who found her accompanied her to a nearby
gas station to get fuel, returned her to her vehicle, then left.
Later, she had an accident, hitting a tree and receiving serious
injuries. She contends that she was intoxicated when first ob
served and that the Highway Patrol was negligent in not arresting
her before she had the accident.
