DEATHS
PRYOR S BLACK
The Rev. Pryor S. Black. 74,
Route 1, Trion, died Monday.
Oct. 8. at 3:29 p.m. in Erlanger
Hospital, Chattanooga He was
born in Whitfield County, Ga.,
on May 7, 1899. son of the late
Albert and Emmline Small
wood Black. He was a retired
carpenter and minister and a
member of Ridgeway Baptist
Church.
Surviving are his wife. Mrs.
Ona B. Black. Route 1. Trion:
four daughters, Mrs. Denver
Howell, Trion, Mrs. Henry B.
McWhorter, Atlanta, Mrs. Cora
Jane Whitmire. Hapeville, Ga.,
and Mrs. Jo Ann Brewer,
Rome; two sons, James A.
Black and Jerry Black, both of
Trion, two sisters, Mrs. Lillie
Laker, Tunnel Hill, Mrs. Maggie
Cummings. Ringgold; 12 grand
children; four great-grand
children; several nieces and
nephews.
Euneral services were held
Wednesday. Oct. 10, at 4 p.m.
from Ridgeway Baptist
Church, with the Rev. Leon

MRS DESSIE ROWLLS
Mrs Dessie Fleming Rowlls,
8), Route 1, Lyerly, died
Monday, Oct. 8, at 8:30 a.tn.
She was born in Cherokee
County, Ala., on Sept. 19,
1892, daughter of the late Van
and Mary King Fleming. She
was preceded in death by her
husband, Perry Rowlls, on

four great-grandchildren;
several niecesand nephews.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 2 p.m.
in the chapel of Erwin-Petitt
Funeral home, with the Rev.
Sidney Dooley and the Rev.
Charles Crowe officiating.
Burial was in Greenhill
Memory Gardens.

John Blackmon has announced
that revenue collections tor
September, 1 973, were
$126 065,277.26, compared to
$110,989,932.26 for Septem
ber 1972, an increase oi
$15,075,345.00. The percent
age increase is 13.6 percent.
Collections for the first
quarter of the cur re n t
year were $339,843,526 09
compared to $297,478,847 17
for the first quarter of last
fiscal year, an increase of
$42,364,678.92. The percent
age increase is 14.2 percent.
