The W.M.U. Circles of the
Trion First Baptist Church will
lead the church in a “Week of
Prayer” this week in ob
servance of the Lottie Moon
Christmas Offering which is
taken annually for foreign
mission. Wednesday evening at
6:30 the mission banquet was
held in the fellowship hall.
Afterwards a mission program
with a special speaker, Rev. Joe
Gatlin, missionary from
Tanzania, was held. Each
evening different W.M.U.
Circles will have charge of the
programs the remainder of the
week. Thursday, 7 p.m., Lottie
Moon; Friday (same time) the
Bertha Mae and Ressie McCol
lum Circles will meet. The
public is cordially invited to
each or both of these services.
Mrs. Thelma Espy spent last
Wednesday night with Mr. and
Mrs. Pug Love in Rome. On
Thursday she and the Loves
were Thanksgiving guests of
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mitchell also
of Rome.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Arnold

their 17th grandbaby Sunday
night at Tri-County Hospital,
Ft. Oglethorpe. A daughter
weighing a few ounces over 9
pounds was born to Mr and
Mrs. Leon Arnold of Tunnel
Hill. Other grandparents are

Summerville. Congratulations

joyed dinner Sunday at Bea’s,
then a nice visit with Mr. and

Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 3:05
a.m. in a LaFayette clinic. She
was born in Cobb County, Ga.,
on Nov. 18, 1898, daughter of
the late James L. and Lucy
Barnard Lindsey. She was pre
ceded in death by her husband,
Joseph H. Copeland, on April
20, 1973. She was a member of
the First Baptist Church of
Wauchula, Fla.
Surviving are one daughter,
Mrs. Edith Dewitte, Route 4,
Summerville; and one grand
daughter, Beverly Dewitte,
Silver Spring, Md.
Funeral services were held
Friday, Nov. 30, at 1:30 p.m.
from the chapel of Erwin-Petitt
Funeral Home, with the Rev.
Perry Broome officiating.
Burial was in Adamsburg
Cemetery, Adamsburg, Ala.
Active pallbearers were Leo
Lanier Jr., W. E. Roper, B. P.
Chapman, Wilburn Shamblin,
C. H. McCullough, and Jimmy
McCullough.
Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home
had charge of arrangements.

WEIGHT WATCHERS’
CLUB
The Weight Watchers Club
meets each Monday evening
from 7 until 9 p.m. at the
Summerville Recreation
Center.
ART CLASSES
Art classes are taught chil
dren and adults at the Summer
ville Recreation Center each
Tuesday and Wednesday. Adult
classes are taught each Tuesday
night from 7 until 9 p.m. Ele
mentary and upper elementary
classes are taught each Wednes
day afternoon from 3:30 until
5 p in. Mrs. Judy Hair is the
instructor for these classes.
KNITTING CLASSES
The Summerville Parks and
Recreation will have Knitting
Classes Wednesday, Dec. 12,
from 10 a.m. til noon. Mrs. Sue
Spivey is the instructor for
these classes. All persons must
furnish their own supplies.
Classes are conducted each
Wednesday from 10 a.in. until
noon.
DANCE CLASSES
Dance classes are taught at
the Summerville Recreation
each Thursday afternoon for
pre-school and all-age school
students. These lessons are
being conducted by Mrs. Clara
Ellison, well-known dance
teacher of Rome, and her
assistant, Mrs. Kathy Baird,
also from Rome. For further
information concerning these
lessons contact the Summer
ville Recreation.
SEQUOYAH SQUARE

The Sequoyah Squares will
