in a hospital in New Orleans.

The fourth through the seventh grades
at the Summerville Christian School
will present “A Night to Remember”
beginning at 7:30 p.m. tonight at
Calvary Baptist Church. Some of the

FIFTH GRADERS MEET

mentary School fifth grade 4-H
Club met Dec. 9, at 8:30 a m.
Cindi Petitt called the
meeting to order.
Melissa Thomas read the
pledge and then Fecia Brown
led the group in Christmas
songs.
Afterwards Holly Willis read
a poem.
The highlight of the meeting
came when members showed
Christmas decorations they had
made themselves.
They were as follows:

The Lyerly Cloverleaf 4-H
Club meeting opened with
pledges to the American and
4-H flags. Angela Cranmore
gave the devotional.
Many people had some very
pretty decorations for the holi
day season.
There were snowflakes
made from freezer paper, wrap
ping paper and notebook paper
by Janice Tudor.
Also, there were candles and
different kinds of decorations
for a Christmas tree, stockings
and TV Guide Christmas trees
by Lenny Wilson, Lisa Keef,
Bobby Ratliff, Cindy Womack,
Marie Cook and Angie Cran
more.
There was also a demon
stration given by Ted Clark on
where to put a Christmas tree
where it will not become a fire
hazard. Also, he talked about
safety and different kinds of
fires.

TO THE CHATTOOGA COUNTY WATER DISTRICT NO. 1
WATER SYSTEM
CHATTOOGA COUNTY, GEORGIA
To all whom it may concern:
Notice is hereby given that the Chattooga County Water
District No. 1 proposes to let a Contract to the lowest
responsible bidder, upon sealed proposals, for the furnish
। ing of all labor, material, equipment and other things
necessary for the construction of Extensions to the Chat
tooga County Water District No. 1 Water System.
Said proposals will be received at the Chattooga County
Water District No. 1, Route 1, Trion, Georgia until 10:00
A.M., E.S.T., Thursday, January 5, 1978 and will then and
there be publicly opened and read aloud.
The work is to be let in one contract, and shall conform
in all respects to the Specifications of Williams, Sweitzer
and Barnum, Inc., Engineers, Rome, Georgia, which are
made out and posted conspicuously in the Office of the ।
Undersigned, and said specifications, general conditions,
and drawings, are open to the inspection of the public.
The extent and character of the work to be done in
general, consists of the construction of and supply at a unit
price, the following approximate quantities:
। CONTRACT NO. 1-NEW WELLS CONSTRUCTION
Drill and Test Two (2) 6" Test Wells
| Develop 6" Test Wells into 8" Finished Wells
All above as more specifically shown by the plans and!
) specifications of the Engineer as aforesaid. Reference is
< made to the specifications in the office of the Chattooga
/ County Water District No. 1 for a more particular
i description of the work. Said work shall begin upon the
' written order of the Chattooga County Water District No.
I 1, after the formal execution of the Contract.
Request for payment for said work will be made through
| the Chattooga County Water District No. 1 not later than
the fifteenth (15th) day of each calendar month. The
| Owner shall make a progress payment to the Contractor on
the basis of a duly certified and approved estimate of the
I work performed during the preceding calendar month।
under this Contract; but to insure the proper performance
' of this Contract, the Owner shall retain ten percent (10%)|
of the amount of each estimate until final completion and
acceptance of all work covered by this contract.
। Provided further, that on completion and acceptance of
each separate building, public work or other division of the'
I Contract on which the price is stated separately in the.
Contract, payment may be made in full including retained 1
1 percentages thereon, less authorized deductions. In prepar-,
ing estimates of material delivered on the site, preparatory
work done may be taken into consideration, and upon the ।
. final completion and acceptance of all work covered by the
Contract and the filing of a certificate of completion and |
I approval thereof by the Engineer as aforesaid-all retained
sums will be paid. |

of Williams, Sweitzer and Barnum, Inc., Engineers at 2232*
Redmond Circle (P.O. Box 1751), Rome, Georgia 30161/
upon payment of $25.00 per set.
Upon return of complete, unmarked and undamaged sets (
to the Engineer within thirty (30) calendar days after the J
bid opening date, fifty percent (50%) of the deposit will be 1
1 refunded. Successful bidders will be refunded total pay
ment for the Contract awarded. Refunds for sets returned
after the thirty (30) calendar day period will not be made.
The Contract, if awarded, will be on a lump sum basis.
No bid may be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) days
after time has been called on the date of opening. Bids must
be accompanied by a Bid Bond in an amount of not less
। than five (5%) percent of the base bid. All bonds must be ।
countersigned by a Georgia Resident Agent.
A faithful Performance Bond in the amount of one /
hundred (100%) percent of the amount of the bid, and a'
Labor Materials Payment Bond in the amount of not less (
than the amount of said Bid, one hundred (100%) percent ,
shall be furnished by the successful bidders.
The right is reserved to the Chattooga County Water
District No. 1 to delay the award of the Contract for a
period not to exceed sixty (60) days from the date of
opening of bids, during which time bids shall remain open
and not subject to withdrawal. The right is also reserved to
reject any and all bids and to waive any and al! tech
nicalities or informalities. Any contract executed pursuant |
to this notice shall be binding upon the Chattooga County
Water District No. 1, as such, but will not create a liability I
expressed or implied, against any member of the said Water
District, County Commission, or any officer or employee of ।
said Water District, in his or her individual capacity.
