Annette Cooke Bride of
Michael Lee Grissom
Subligna Baptist Church
near Summerville was the
setting for the Nov. 26 candle
light wedding of Mary Annette
Cooke, daughter of Lonnie and
Anne Cooke of Summerville,
to Michael Lee Grissom, son of
Mrs. Barbara Grissom and the
late Bill Grissom of Talla
hassee, Fla.
The Rev. Willie B. Bearden
of Calhoun performed the
double-ring ceremony.
Carolyn Ragland of Lyerly
attended the bride’s book.
The colors of autumn leaves
were used as the color scheme.
The church was decorated with
numerous candles and baskets
of large mums.
The ceremony was started
by the lighting of candles by
Kim Ragland, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. L. D. Ragland, and
Mark Cooke, brother of the
bride.
The bride wore a long
sleeved gown of candlelight
chiffon covering satin. The
bodice, waist, neck, sleevesand
cuffs were of matching lace.
The full skirt and train were
trimmed only at the hem with
flowered lace. The matching
waist-length veil was laced and
beaded at the crown and edged
with the same flowering lace.
The bride’s matron of honor
was Vicky Selman of Summer
ville. The bridesmaids were
Donna and Carolyn Grissom of
Tallahassee. Their gowns were
rust-colored satantine with
coordinating cloral chiffon
capes. They carried mums and
baby’s-breath.

The flower girl was Michelle
Lee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Wayne Lee of Virginia Beach,
Va. Her gown was full-skirted
yellow and white lace. She
carried a white basket of
yellow mum petals.
Shane Ragland, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Harold Ragland of
Lyerly, was ringbearer. He was
dressed in a yellow tuxedo and
carried an ivory satin pillow.
L. D. Ragland of Lyerly
served as the groom’s best man.
Groomsmen were James
Johnson and Chris Cooke,
brother of the bride. They
wore identical tuxedos of
brown.
The groom was dressed in a
brown tuxedo with an apricot
colored shirt.
“Today is the Day” was
sung by Lynn Smith accompa
nied by her father, Ed Smith,
as the mothers of the couple
were seated.
For her daughter’s wedding,
Mrs. Cooke chose a navy gown
with a cape trimmed in rust
and gray. Mrs. Grissom chose
for her son’s wedding, a gown
of pale blue with coordinating
jacket.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, was escorted to
her mother’s aisle where she
kissed and presented her with a
white rose.
The couple exchanged vows
and knelt in prayer at the altar.
They then lit a unity candle
together.
As the couple left the altar,
the bride paused at the groom’s
mother’s seat where she kissed

MR. AND MRS. BILL REYNOLDS
Betty Manley Is Wed
To Billy E. Reynolds
Betty Jo Manley and Billy
E. Reynolds were united in
marriage Friday, Dec. 2, in
Trenton.
The bride is the daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Rae
Murphy and the groom is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Reynolds of Summerville.
The double-ring ceremony
was performed by Judge C. W.
Gray.
The bride was given in
marriage by Joe McCary. Dene
Jo Edgeworth served as the
maid of honor. Danny
McCary served as the groom’s
best man.
and presented her with a rose
also.
A reception was given by
the bride’s mother with the
help of‘Rose Mary Cooke and
Rose Marie Lee, both of
Virginia Beach, Va. Those who
served were Lee Ann Ragland,
Freida Dover, Sharon Sweat
man and Lynn Jackson.
The couple now resides in
Summerville.
OTHER EVENTS
A rehearsal dinner was given
by Mrs. Barbara Grissom and
Mrs. Carolyn Ragland. It was
held at 6 p.m. at Riegeldale
Tavern. The beautiful old
tavern was decorated in fall
colored flowers, candlelight
and a fire in the hearth to add
to the beauty of the occasion.
A shower was given by Mrs.
Sue Vanpelt, Vicky Selman
and Lynn Jackson on Nov. 17
at the home of Mrs. Vanpelt in j
Summerville.
Following a short wedding
trip, the couple will make their
home in Summerville.

daughter of Mrs. Joe Crowell
and the late Joe Crowell of
Shelbyville, Tenn., and the late

she was manager of the school
news, state FHA officer and a

She is presently employed by

Croy-Tapp Marriage Is
Announced for Jan. 15
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Croy of
Summerville announce the
engagement and forthcoming
marriage of their daughter,
Judy Elaine, to Bryson Samuel
Tapp, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Bryson Daniel Tapp of Trion.
The future bride is a 1976
graduate of Chattooga High
School and is presently
employed at Georgia Glove
Mill. She is the sister of Patsy
and Edna Croy of Summerville
and Mrs., Wanda Cordell of
Summerville. She is the grand-
attending Dalton Junior
College. He is presently
employed by Sears in Chatta
nooga.
The wedding is set for
Dec. 27 at Chickamauga
Presbyterian Church, beginning
at 7:30 p.m.
daughter of the late A. L. and
Mae Belle Croy of Trion, and
the late John and Nattie
Bradley of Alabama.
The future bridegroom is a
1975 graduate of Trion High
School, and is presently
employed at Hurley’s Food
Center in Trion. He is the
brother of Lamar and Barry
Tapp of Trion and Danny
Tapp, currently stationed in
Germany with the U. S. Army.
He is the grandson of Mae
Tapp and the late Bob Tapp of
Chickamauga and the late Mr.
and Mrs. Marvin Rector of
Jasper, Tenn.
The wedding will be held
Jan. 15 at the Dry Valley
Baptist Church in Trion. No
formal invitations will be sent
but all friends and relatives are
invited to attend.
