Social Events From Trion
Two close friends shared in
very exciting experiences
Thursday, Mrs. John Ridley
and Mrs. Millard Webb both
became “Grand-Maws” to little
girls. A daughter was born to
Mr. and Mrs. Billy Dean
Quinton of St. Petersburg, Fla.,
Thursday, Aug. 3 who has been
given the name Tara Denise.
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Webb’s
little daughter, Julia Kara, was
born in Floyd Medical Center
Aug. 3. Proud grandparents of
the Quinton daughter are Mrs.
Cleo Froom in St. Petersburg,
Fla., and Mr. and Mrs. John
Ridley of Trion. The Webb
baby’s grandparents are: Mr.
and Mrs. Ralls Jennings and
Mr. and Mrs. Millard Webb of
Trion. Congratulations go to
each of these happy families.
Mrs. Elizabeth Adams and
Mrs. Cherry Wibirt made a
business trip to Rome Friday.
Jay McKeehan of LaFay
ette spent a few days last week
with his grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Fletcher Cleghorn.
Sincere sympathy is
extended to Mrs. Syble Parker
and her family in the death of
her mother. Mrs. Ethel Wallace,
who passed away last Monday.

who is recovering from a recent

Major Tommy Vines, Mrs.
Vines, Les, Lauri and Lance
spent Thursday and Friday

the Vineses will be interested
to know they are moving to
Charleston, S. C., where Major
Vines will be stationed with
the U.,S. Air Force after
making Abilene, Tex., their
home for the past three years.

The many friends of Tom
Barrett and his family were
deeply saddened Sunday to
learn of the death of his
brother, William Medlin
Barrett, in an Augusta hospital
Saturday. Mr. Barrett, a former
Trionite and Riegel employee,
will be remembered and missed
by a host of friends who
extend to his family their
sincere sympathy.
The Rev. Jim Cordell, Mrs.
Cordell and children returned
home Friday after spending a
few days in the Blue Ridge
Mountains.
Mrs. H. S. Palmour spent
last weekend with her daughter
and family, Mr. and Mrs. J. L.
Hogue.
Mrs. Donald Webb and
Mrs. Millard Webb were among
those visiting Mrs. Ronald
Webb and new daughter in
Floyd Medical Center Friday.

early recovery.

which begins at 7:30 each eve

Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Cochran and their guests, Mrs.
Sue Finister and children of
Switzerland, joined another
daughter and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Dick Buckalew and Stan,
of Aiken, S. C., and Mr. and
Mrs. Bob Worsham and Chris
of Athens, Tenn., in a vacation
at Ormond Beach, Fla., where
they celebrated the 42nd
wedding anniversary of Mr. and
Mrs. Cochran, and enjoyed a
family reunion.

extended to Elbert Hayes who
celebrated his 74th birthday
anniversary Sunday, Aug. 6.
Members of his family treated
him to a dinner Saturday eve
ning at the Sizzle r in Rome.

where they will make their

Beth, spent last Thursday with
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Thomas at

Weiss where they enjoyed boat
riding. Afterward a seafood
dinner was enjoyed at the
Lighthouse. Mrs. Schuessler
and girls returned home Satur
day via plane after spending 10
days with her parents.

enjoyed a few days vacation in

noon the family enjoyed home

Chelsea Baptist Church, where
the Rev. Parris was the guest
speaker, and the singing in the
afternoon.

friends gathered for this annual
event.

slowly improving from under
going surgery Friday at
Redmond Park Hospital and
send to him wishes for a com
plete recovery.

a delightful weekend attending
the “Clogging Convention”
held in Hiawassee where
dancers as far away as Texas,"
Kentucky, Alabama, Florida,
Tennessee and Georgia were in
attendance. Sunday the ladies
enjoyed a trip to Helen, then
back to Hiawassee for the night
and returned home Monday
morning.
Mrs. Thomas Grimes and

guests Monday afternoon of
their parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Millard Webb.
