publicly opened.
3.920 miles of plant mix
resurfacing as follows: 3.20 miles
on Fish Hatchery Road, county
road 106 and 0.72 mile on Robert
Road, Dowdy Trailer Road and

Summerville.

Specifications ($5.00), the proposal
form ($5.00) and the plans

from the State Transportation

the correct amount must be made
within 30 days of billing; such
payments are not refundable.
Notices to Contractors which
include items and quantities are
available upon payment of $12.00
annually.
Proposals must be submitted on
the proposal form issued by the
Department. Each proposal
submitted must be accompanied by
a proposal guaranty in the indicated
amount in the form of a Certified
Check, Cashier’s Check or Bid Bond
on the form issued by the Depart
ment or the Georgia Highway
Authority.
In accordance with the Standard
Specifications, the time set for
receiving bid proposals terminates
at 11:00 a.m. at Room 234 in the
State Highway Building. The bid
proposals will then be transferred
to Room 401 where they will be
publicly opened. Bid proposals will
not be received after 11:00 a.m.
Bid proposals may be withdrawn by
the bidder from Room 234 prior tq
11:00 a.m. but cannot be with
drawn after 11:00 a.m. A
withdrawn bid proposal may again
be received in Room 234 prior to
11:00 a.m.
Acceptance of an offer sub
mitted by the bid proposals will be
given in writing within thirty days
after the opening of the bid unless a
longer period is specified in the
proposal or agreed upon by the
successful bidder. Offers of bidders
who do not hold a current Certifi
cate of Qualification, will not be
accepted unless prequalification
requirements are specifically waived
for the project.
Work will be governed by the
applicable edition of the DOT
Standard Specifications as amended
by the contract provisions. Con
tract time will be as indicated.
Payment will be made to the con
tractor each calendar month based
on the estimated work complete in
place as prescribed by the Standard
Specifications. Retainage as pre
scribed by the Standard Specifi
cations will be withheld. Retainage
may be deposited in escrow
accounts at the option of the
Contractor. Final payment of
amounts withheld or deposited in
escrow will not be made until the
State Highway Engineer has certi
fied that the work has been satis
factorily completed and accepted.
All federally financed contracts
will contain provisions with regard
to minimum wages, employment of
labor, methods of construction,
minority business enterprise in
volvement, and subletting or
assigning the contract. On such
projects the Department will Insure
that minority business enterprise
contractors will be afforded full
opportunity to submit bids In
response to this invitation and will
not be discriminated against on the
grounds of race, color, or national
origin in consideration for an
award. On such projects all bidders
must certify and document that
potential minority business enter
prise subcontractors have been con
tacted and that their Interest,
capabilities, and prices have been
affirmatively solicited.
Federally financed contracts In
excess of SIO,OOO will contain pro
visions for Equal Employment
Opportunity, Affirmative Action,
and goals for minority and female
employment In construction
pursuant to 41 CFR 60-4 and
Executive Order 11246, as
amended. Goals for female
employment apply statewide; goals
for minority employment apply
within the counties of Fulton,
DeKalb, Cobb, Clayton and
Gwinnett.
This advertisement Is merely an
Invitation for the submission of

Notice is hereby given that the
Chattooga County Water District
No. 1 proposes to let a contract
to the lowest responsible bidder,
upon sealed proposals, for the
furnishing of all labor, material,
equipment and other things
necessary for the construction of
Extensions to the Chattooga
County Water District No. 1
Water System.
Said proposals will be received
at the Chattooga County Water
District No. 1, Route 1. Trion,
Georgia 30753 until Friday, May/
18, 1979 at 2:00 p.m. (local
time) and will then and there be
publicly opened and read aloud.
The work is to be let in three
(3) contracts, and shall conform
in all respects tos the Specifi
cations of Williams, Sweitzer and
Barnum, Inc., Engineers, Rome,
Georgia, which are made out and

Bidders must comply with the
President’s Executive Orders Nos.
11246 and 11375, which prohibit
discrimination in employment
regarding race, creed, color, sex
or national origin.
Bidders must comply with
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act
of 1964, the Anti-Kickback Act
and the Contract Work Hours
Standard Act.
Bidders must certify that they
do not, and will not, maintain or
provide for their employees any
facilities that are segregated on a
basis of race, color, creed, or
national origin.
All above are more specifically
shown by the plans and specifi
cations of the Engineer as afore
said. Reference is made to the
specifications in the Water
District Office, Trion, Georgia for
a more particular description of
the work. Said work shall begin
upon the written order of the
Chattooga County Water District
No. 1 after the formal execution
of the Contract.
Payments for said work will be
made through the Chattooga
County Water District No. 1 not
later than the fifteenth (15th)
day of each calendar month. The
Owner shall make a progress
payment to the Contractor on
the basis of a duly certified and
approved estimate of the work
performed during the preceding
calendar month under this
Contract; but to Insure the
proper performance of this
contract, the Owner shall retain
ten percent (10%) of the amount
of each estimate until final com
pletion and acceptance of all
work covered by this contract.
Provided further, that on
completion and acceptance of
each separate building, public
work or other division of the
Contract on which the price is
stated separately in the Contract,
payment may be made in full
including retained percentages
thereon, less authorized
deductions. In preparing estimates
of material delivered on the site,
preparatory work done may be
taken into consideration, and
upon the final completion and
acceptance of all work covered
by the Contract and the filing ng
of a certificate of completion and
approval thereof by the Engineers
as aforesaid—all retained sums will
be paid.

sets returned after the thirty (30)
calendar day period will not be
made.
The Contract(s), if awarded,
will be on a lump sum basis. No
bid may be withdrawn for a
period of sixty (60) days after
time has been called on the date
of opening. Blds must be
accompanied by a Bid Bond in
an amount of not less than five
(5%) percent of the base bid. All
bonds must be countersigned by
a Georgia Resident Agent.
A faithful Performance Bond
In the amount Os one hundred
(100%) percent of the amount of
the bld, and a labor Materials
Payment Bond In the amount of
not less than the amount of said

The camp, located 11 miles

way 157, is owned and oper
ated by Moccasin Bend Girl
Scout Council which serves

Scouts and non-scouts may
attend resident camp which
