A dream came true Sun
day, Oct. 14, when Mr. and
Mrs. Hosea Bello and
daughter arrived at the Atlan
ta airport from Cuba. They
were met by Mr. Bello’s sister,
Mrs. Loyd Bryant, and family
of Calhoun. The Bellos and the
Loyd Bryant family were
Saturday supper guests of
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bryant.
Sunday guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Gene Beam were: Mr.
and Mrs. Howard Burton of
Anniston, Ala., and Mrs. Lois
Burton of Golden, Miss. Mrs.
Lois Burton remained for a
week’s visit with her brother,
Mr. Beam, and Mrs. Beam.

Doyle Thomas visited Mrs.
Mattie Howard Sunday.

recorded under the new four go-round
format which saw National Champion
ship buckles being awarded to the win
ners of 60 halter and performance
classes; the second place horse in each
class was named Reserve National
Champion. Horses from 30 states and

Author To Be At
Autograph Signing
Dr. James F. Cook, Jr.,
professor of history at Floyd
Junior College, will hold an
autograph session for his book
“Govenors of Georgia,” 2-4
p.m. Sunday, at the college
library.
The book is the first
volume covering the lives of
all the state's governors. Dur
ing the 225-year period there
have been 74 governors star
ting with John Reynold’s ap
pointment by the English
crown in 1754. Individual
biographies as well as impor
tant historical events are
highlighted.
Cook, who has been an ac
tive speaker to groups and
organizations in northwest
Georgia, earned his Ph.D. in
history at the University of
Georgia. He has been a
member of the faculty of
Floyd Junior College since its
beginning in 1970.
The general public is in

On October 10, the Menlo
Junior 4-H Club met and
elected officers for the 1979-80
4-H year.
The officers are: Sherry
Gilreath, president; Peggy
Crabtree, girls’ vice-president;
Eugene Johnson, boys vice
president; Jimmy McCarley,
reporter; David Bolton,
parliamentarian; and Tammy
Reece, secretary.
While the votes were being
counted by Pam Echols, Vicki
Jarrett gave out the 4-H
manuals for this year.
