DEATHS
Lloyd Blackmon
Lloyd Blackmon, 63, a resi
dent of 136 Georgia St., Trion,
passed away Sunday, Dec. 23,
at 2:45 p.m. at his residence.
Mr Vilnckmon was born in
Chattooga County Feb. 1,
1916, son of the late Fannie
Bryson Blackmon.
He was a retired textile
worker and was a Church of
God by faith.
Surviving are his wife,
Mrs. Maxine Blackmon of
Trion; two sons, Lloyd
Blackmon Jr., and Charles
Blackmon, both of Joneshoro,
father, Charlie Blackmon of
Trion; two sisters, Mrs. Viola
Green and Mrs. Frances
Guthrie, both of Trion; six
brothers, Carl Blackmon of
Summerville Grady
Blackmon, Jessie Blackmon,
Robert Blackmon, James
Blackmon and Glenn
Blackmon, all of Trion; five
grandchildren; five great
grandchildren; and nieces and
nephews
Funerai services were held
Wednesday, Dec. 26, at 2 p.m.

James Brooks
James Bugene Brooks, 58,
a resident of 102 Walnut St.,
Summerville, passed away
Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 12:06
p.m. in a local hospital.
Mr. Brooks was born in
Chattooga County May 2,
1921, son of the late George
W. Brooks and Annie Smartt
Brooks
Surviving are his three
sisters, Mrs. Mamie Tallent,
Mrs. Horace Yancey and Mrs.
Jess Dempsey, all of Summer
ville; three brothers, Charlie
Brooks and George Brooks,
both of Summvrvilfy and Jack
Brooks of Calhoun; and
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held
Friday, Dec. 21, at 3 p.m. from
the chapel of Erwin-Petitt

Mrs. Myrtle Cothran
Davis, 78, a resident of Route
1, Summerville, passed away
Saturday, Dec. 22, at 10:31
a.m. at her residence.
Mrs. Davis was born in
Alabama City, Ala., March 30,
1901, daughter of the late Bill
Cothran and Annie Stokes
Cothran.
She was a Baptist by faith,
and was preceded in death by
a son, Ernest Davis, in 1944,
and a grandson, Rodger
Bohannon, in 1960,
Surviving are her husband,
William A. (Lon) Davis of
Summerville; two daughters,
Mrs. Hill Bohannon o? Sum
merville and Mrs. Duward
Tomlin of Summerville; two
sisters, Mrs. Essie Rowlls of
Dalton and Mrs. Claudie
Adams of Gadsden, Ala.; one
fianddaughter. Mrs. Susan
affett of Camden, Tenn;
two grandsons, Barry Bohan
non of Greenville, S, C., and
Mike Tomlin of Kennesaw,
Ga.; and several nieces. and
nephews.
Funeral services were held
Monday, Dec. 24, at 2 p.m.
from the chapel of Erwin-
Petitt Funeral Y:nme with the
Rev. W. H. Dean officiating.
Interment was in Summervilfe
Cemetery.

Mrs. Velma L. Shamblin
deSeife, 59, of Pittsburgh, Pa,
assed away Tuesday, Dec.
g{). from injuries sustained in
an automobile accident.
Mrs. deSeife was born in
DeKalb County, Ala, Aug.
15, 1920, daughter of the late
Viola l)()fibn Wright
Shamblin.
She was a civil service
employee and a Navy veteran
of a’orld War 11.
Surviving are her father
and su-pmotfiwr. Mr. and Mrs.
Wilburn Shamblin of Trion;

Thursday, Dec. 27, in Cor
aopolis, Pa. Burial will be in
West Hill Cemetery, pending
arrival of Mrs. deSeife from
Pennsylvania.

Hammonds
Fletcher C. Hammond, 62,
of 618 S. Congress St., Sum
merville, assed away
Wednesday, f)ec 26, at 2:47
p.m.
Mr. Hammonds was born
in Randolph County, Ala.,
Sept. 3, 1917, son of the late
R(S)ert Hammonds and the
late Lucy Butler Hammonds.
He was a veteran of World
War 1l and a retired service
station operator.
Surviving are his wife,
Mrs. Jeanette Hammonds of
Summerville; one daughter,
Miss Jackie Hummongs of
Summerville; three sons,
Ricky Hammonds, Mickey
Hammonds and Jerry Ham
monds, all of Summerville;
two sisters, Mrs. Leatha
Snider of Alabama and Mrs.
Press Spears of Geraldine,
Ala.; one granddaughter; one
grandson; and several nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services were held
Friday, Dec. 28, at 2 p.m. from
the chapel of Lane Funeral
Home with the Rev. Frank
Lewis and Mr. Jim Thrasher
officiating. Interment was in
Summerville Cemetery.
