was good to be out and alive
and on the way home, and
look, here we are pulling into
our driveway and here 1s our
house, your home now with
Kour very own room that we
ave painted and furnished
and decorated with love and
anticipation and it's all ready
just for you and we hope you
are going to like it and wil{be
happy because we love you
and we want you so much.
And look, here are people
waitin? for you, to greet you,
to exclaim over you, to say
how fine and well and healthy
you look and how beautiful
you are. Here are Aunt Mar
tha and Uncle George and
Cousin Fred and our very
good friends Tom and Mary
rown, and they've all come
just to see you and welcome
}\;ou home. They all want to
old you and kiss you, and I
know Aunt Martha is fluttery
and makes you nervous and
Uncle George's whiskers are
scratchy, but they mean well
and they just want to show
that they care.
Are you cryinE? What a
face you are making! Is it
because you are a little bit
frightened of your new sur
roundings and all these people
around you? Or are you sleepy
or hungry? Do you have a Et
tle pain somewhere or are you
uncomfortable? You see, we
don’'t really know exactly
what to do or even just how to
do it yet. We don’t quite know
how to interpret all your little
ways yet because this is all so
new to us just as it’s all so
new to you. And if we make
mistakes and don’t know the
things you need and can't tell
us, and if sometimes we don’t
understand, please be patient
with us for we are trying.
It’s all just a fiittle
frightening you know, for us,
