Landers
Mrs. Catherine Gladys
Landers, age 66, a resident of*
16 Tenth Street, Trion, passed
away Saturday morning, Jan.
5, at her residence.
Mrs. Landers was born in
Chattooga County on Oct. 27,
1913, deu%hber of the late
Homer H. Broome and Jessie
Pruitt Broome.
She was a member of the
Lookout Hall Church of Christ
and was a retired textile
employee.
She was preceded in death
by her husband, Grady
Tucker Couple Honored
On 50th Anniversary
A golden wedding anniver
sary reception was given Sun
day, Jan. 6, honoring Arthur
Shamblin Tucker and Stella
Agnes O'Donnell Tucker. The
couple were married at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Wade
Allman in Round Mt., Ala.,
Jan. 6, 1930.
The gala event was given
by their children. Those atten
ding were: Mr. and Mrs. Troy
Pope of Trion; Miss Betty
Joyce Tucker of Lyerly; Mrs.
Robert Speer of Trion; Mrs.
Billy Harrelson of Jackson
ville, Ala.; Mrs. Gary Young
of Summerville; and Mr, untj
Mrs. Bobby Doherty of
Gaylesville, Ala.
Also their grandchildren:
David and Pete Davis; Terry
and Jimmy Pope; Mrs. Pam

of Trion; two brothers, Harold
Broome and J.L.. Broome,
both of Trion; and several
nieces and nephews.,
Funeral services were held
Monday at 2 p.m. from the
Chapel of £rwin-l’c~tiu
Funeral Home with Stanle
Baker, and J. Farris Bair({
Ministers, officiating. Inter
ment was in Trion Cemetery.

Barnes, John Underwood,
Charles Ash, David Starkey,
and George Scoggins.

rangements.

away Tuesday, Jan, 1, at 5:45
a.m. in the local hospital.
Mr. Philligs was born in
Copper Hill, Tenn., on March
11, 1912, son of the late
William Marion Phillips and
Florida Boatner Phillips.
He was a member of the
West Berryton Faith Temple
and had retired from the
Chrysler Automobile Corpora
tion in 195 K,
Surviving are his wife,
Mrs. Ethelene Phillips;
daughter, Mrs. Kathleen
Wooten of Menlo; son, Jimmy
Edward Phillips of Menlo;
four sisters, Mrs. Ruth
Everett of Trion, Mrs. Edna
Atkins of Jacksonville, Fla.,
Mrs. Ida Mae Ely of Jackson
ville, Fla., and Mrs. Bertha
Vanpelt of Menlo; two
brothers, Junior Phillips of
Little Rock, Ark., and .Fumes
Phillips of Rome; nine grand
chil(Fren; one great
grandchild; and several nieces
and nephews,
Funeral services were held
