Virginia Harris
Mrs. Virginia Harris, 48, a
resident of 3 Sunrise Circle,
Trion, passed away Tuesday,
Sept. 8, at 8:45 a.m. in a Rome
hos&iul
rs. Harris was born in
DeKalb County, Ala., on Aug.
19, 1933.
She was a member of Trion
Heights Baptist Church. She
was manager of the Credit
Association for Riegel Textile
Cocgoration.
Surviving are her husband,
Buford Harris; two sons,
Donald Harris of Wichita
Falls, Texas, and Ronald Har
ris of Biloxi, Miss.. parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Gravitt
of Trion; brother, C. K.
Gravitt of Ringgold; four
grandchildren; 11 nieces and
nine nephews.
Funeral services will be
held today, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m.
from the chapel of Erwin-
Petitt Funeral fiome with the
Rev. Roy Smith officiating.
Interment will be in Greenhfil
Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Grace Beatrice McAr
thur, 68, of 317 Allen St
Summerville, gassed away
Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 3 am.
Mrs. McArthur was born
in Chattooga County on Oct.
28, 1913, daughter of the late
Bosie Montine Mitchell and
Ada Jones Mitchell.
She was a Baptist by faith.
She was a reu'reg employee of
Montgomery Km’ttinfi Mill.
Surviving are her husband,
Andrew McArthur of Sum
merville; one daughter, Mrs.
Florence Cavin o? Route 3,
Summerville; one son, Wayne
McArthur of Route 1, Sum
merville; four sisters, Mrs. Ida
Pledqer and Mrs. Treva
Moseley, both of Route 1,
Lyerly, Mrs. Mary Booker of
Lyerly and Mrs. Geneva Espy
o’ Doraville; four brothers,
Dewey Mitchell, Donald Mit
chell, Jim Mitchell and the
Rev. Hoyt Mitchell, all of
Summerville; four grand
children, two great
grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be
held today, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m.
from the chapel of Lane

away Fridag. Sept. 4, at 1 a.m.
in a Rome hospital.
Mrs. Sills was born in
Chattooga County on July 28,
1913, daughter of the late
John Hines and Onna Sosbee
Hines.
She was a Baptist by faith.
She was preceded in death by
her husband, Walter Sills.
Surviving are her three
daughters, Mrs. Betty Brown
of Trion, Mrs. Roberta LeCro
of Rome and Mrs. Ann Shefi
of Summerville; four sons,
Carl Sills of Rome, Milton
Sills of California, Walter
James Sills of Route 1, Sum
merville and Jimmy Ray Sills
of Trion; two sisters, Mrs.
Bonnie Ingle of Trion and
Mrs. Hattie Bell Johnson of
Summerville; three brothers,
Jess Hines, Charles Hines and
James Hines, all of Trion; a
number of grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Sunday, Sept. 6, at 3:30 p.m.
from the chapel of Lane
Funeral Home with the Rev.
Roy H. Smith and the Rev.
Bil{y Wright officiating. In
terment was in Wooten
Cemetery.

Displavs Large Catch
Cliff Woodall (L.) and Butch Gardner, both of Lyerly,
display a large strin%er of catfish they caught last
Thursday. The catfish were caught in a channel at
Lake Weiss in Alabama. The fish weighed approx
imately 95 pounds.
Sept. 2, at 9:50 a.m. at her
residence.
Mrs. Smith was born in
Marion County, Ala., on
March 9, 1911, daughter of
the late Elmon E. Howell and
Lura Evans Howell.
She was a retired textile
worker. She was a member of
New Bethel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Smith was preceded
in death by her husband, Troy
Smith, on Sept. 4, 1971.
Surviving are two
daughters, Mrs. Mary Alice
Boaz of Nashville, Tenn,, and
Mrs. Lowanna Stowe of Trion;
one son, Eugene Smith of
Overland Park, Kans. one
sister, Madge Howell of Trion;
two brothers, Dalton Howell
and Ralph Howell, both of
Trion; nine grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held
Friday, Sept. 4, at 2 p.m. from
New Bethel Baptist Church
with the Rev. Robert Patter
son and the Rev. Bill Holder
officiating. Interment was in
West HilfCemeu»ry.
Active pallbearers were

Gene Garner.

ingham, 62, of 2 Scoggins
Ave., Summerville, passed
away Wednesday, Sept. 2, at
8:45 a.m. in a Rome hospital.
Mrs. Wilh’ngham was born
in Chattooga County on Jan.
7. 1919, daughter of the late
M. J. McSpadden and Beulah
Jane Spears McSpadden.
She was a member of the
Rome Boulevard Church of
God. She was a retired
employee of the Montgomery
Knitting Mill with 28 years
service.
She was preceded in death
by her husband, Harry Will
ingham.
Surviving are her three
daughters, Mrs. Pamfi' N. Suf
fridge and Mrs. Billie Jean
Holcomb, both of Statham,
and Mrs. Edna Belinda Green
of Lawrenceville; one son,
David Russell Willirfiham of
Trion; two sisters, Mrs. Ida
Mae Rutherford of Summer
ville and Mrs. Edna Brown of
LaFayette; one brother, Jim

nephews.
Funeral services were held

of God with the Rev. W. D.
