AERATION BASIN MODIFICATIONS
at which time and place the proposals will be
publicly orened and read aloud. Proposals
received after the designated time will not be
considered
The work to be done consists of modifica
tions to the City of Summerville's existing
wastewater treatment plant. The two (2) aera
tion basins are to be drained and cleaned, the
existing sheet liner removed from the basins
and new concrete revetment mats placed on
the basins' slopes. The contractor shall fur
nish all labor, materials, tools, equipment,
skills and incidentals necessary to complete
all work indicated in the plans and specifica
tions.
Bidders shall inform themselves concern
ing Georgia Laws and comply with same.
Plans and specifications are o&en to public
inspection at the office of Welker and
Associates, Inc., Engineers, 328 Roswell
Street, P.O. Box 937, Marietta, Georgia
30061.
One contract shall be awarded covering all
the work and the maximum time for comple
tion shall not exceed 75 consecutive calendar
days from starting date in Notice to Proceed.
Plans and contract documents may be ob
tained from Welker and Associates, Inc.,
Marietta, Georgia upon payment of $25.00'
per set. No refund.
The successful bidder shall be furnished
free of charge, six sets of plans and specifica
tions.
Bids must be accompanied by a Bid Bond
in an amount equal to not less than five per
cent (5%) of the bid
The contractor shall furnish a perfor
mance bond in an amount at least equal to
one hundred percent (100%) of the contract
price as security for the faithful performance
of this contract and, also, a payment bond in
the amount of not less than one hundred per
cent (100%) of the contact price, as security
for the payment of all persons performin,
labor on the project under this contract nng
furnishing materials in connection with the
contract.
No bid may be withdrawn after the
scheduled closing time for receiving bids for a
period of thirty (30) days
The Owner reserves the right to reject any
or all bids and to waive informalities and re
advertise.

41 Donors Give Blood
The American Red Cross
Bloodmobile made a stop in
the county Tuesday at the
Summerville Recreation
Center on the Bolling Road.
The bloodmobile was held
from 12:30 until 5:30 p.m. at
the recreation center.
Despite periods of rain, 70
potential donors turned out to
give the %ift of life — a unit of
lood. Of those turning out,
an estimated 58 were high
school students giving blood
for the first time.
After screening, only 41
out of the 70 potential donors
were able to give blood for
various reasons.

Deputies
Involved
In Wreck
Two on-duty deputies from
the Chattooga County
Sheriff's Department were in
jured Tuesday night when
they were involved in a one
car accident near Holland.
Deputy Aubrey Smith re
mained hospitalized Wednes
day with back injuries. Accor
dinf to reports, Smith will
probably be hospitalized for
several days. Deputy Jerry
Davenport was treated at the
hospital for lacerations and
later released.
According to Sheriff Gar
McConnell, Deputies Smit%
and Davenport were en route
to Holland to assist the sheriff
in searching some property for
drugs. Approximately a mile
north of Holland, McConnell
said, the right front tire on the
1981 Chevrolet Malibu patrol
car blew out. The patrol car
left the road, added McCon
nell, and overturned.
Sheriff McConnell said it is
not known at this time the
cause of the accident,
however, the tire blow out
may have been the cause.
The accident is still under
investigation.

Fire Report
The Summerville Fire
Department responded to
three house Fire calls
throughout the week ended
Wednesday.
Firemen answered a call to
the residence of Roy Ellen
burg on Dowdy Circle last
Thursday night. Firemen bat
tled the blaze for almost two
hours before they were able to
extinguish it. The house
trailer received extensive
damage. The cause of the fire
is not known.
On Saturday night firemen
responded to a house fire at
the residence of Alma J.
Morgan on Peachtree Road.
Firemen quickly extinguished
the blaze.ql'here was orfi; light
damage over the stove in the
kitchen,
Firemen answered a call on
Tuesday morning to a house
owned by Grant Davison on
Northwest Congress Street.
Within an hour-and-a-half
firemen had extinguished the
blaze. The house received ex
tensive damage. The cause of
the fire is unknown.
