Hold Meet
The Lyerly Homemakers
enjoyed a demonstration
Tuesday night, Sept. 8, by
Marie Cook, a Lyerly 4-H
member, who won first place
in the district Project
Achievement meetinf recent

emonstration, ‘Making Bak
ed Cheese Fondue.'" The
Homemakers enjoyed her
demonstration and the fondue
as it was served along with
the refreshments foli‘owing
the meeting.

girl, who was sponsored by
the Homemakers of the Coun
ty in taking a trip to the Na
tional 4-H Convention in
Washington, D.C., as a
deleafiaw to the "Citizenship
| Washington Focus” during
| her weeks stay in
Washington. Angie visited
the Kennedy Center, J.C.
Penny Hall, Opera House,
Washington Cathedral, in
which is a window dedicated
to the 4-H Club members. She
~also attended an eye care pro
gram while there. She visited
the Library of Congress, met
many congressman and
senators, visited Mt. Vernon,
saw the changing of the
guards at Arlin%‘ton
emetery, saw ‘‘Anything
Goes' at Washington Theatre
and also visited the *‘Smithso
nian Institute'’ along with
other interesting sights.

Craft” exhibit Saturday, Oct.
10, at the Recreation Center
were urged to get their items
ready and call gr space at the
County Extension Office in
Summerville. With no other
business, the hostess served

Georgia Power District Superintendent Mike Smith
(R) gresents a 15-year service award to W. S. ‘‘Jake”’
Gibbs. The award was presented on Friday afternoon
during the company’s September Safety Meeting.
Gibbs is employed as a lead lineman with Georgia
Power.
