Chattooga County is considering applying to
the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for
a Small Cities Community Development Block
Grant of up to $400,000. These funds must be used
for one of the following purposes:
1) To benefit low and moderate income per
sons; or
2) To aid in the prevention or elimination of
slums or blight; or
3) To meet other community development
needs having a particular urgency because ex
isting conditions pose a serious and immediate
threat to the health or welfare of the community
where other financial resources are not avaiiable
to meet such needs. The applicant and the
Georgia Department of Community Affairs must
certify and the U. S. Department of Housing and
Urban Development must concur that such condi
tions exist.
The activities for which these funds may be us
ed are in the areas of housing, public facilities,
and economic development. More specific details
regarding eligible activities, program re
quirements, and the rating system will be provid
ed at a public hearing which will be held at the
county court house on June 15, 1982, at 7:00 p.m.
The purpose of this hearing will be to obtain
citizen input into the development of the applica
