Packing Ideas Given
Most of us pack too quick
{x, and haphazardly for a tnif).
e leave the t.hinia we really
need at home on the shelf.
Carolyn Joyner, Extension
Service clothing specialist,
says it doesn't have to be this
way. With a little practice and
a plan, you can Eet to Topeka
or wherever with your shower
cap and other necessities all
together in less space than
you normally use.
Make the plan first. You
will be too busy doing other
things at the last minute to
remember everything from
your toothbrush to that
special scarf. About two
weeks before you leave, decide
what you're going to take.
Select non-wrinkling clothes
that will be comfortable. Knit
clothes are both. Remember,
knits can have different fiber
contents, including polyester,
cotton, wool and glends of
these.
Everything you take
should coordinate and serve
double duty. That way, you
don’t have to take as much.
Take along such things as
flesh-colored underwear,
neutral tops and a blazer that
goes with both skirts and
slacks. Spread everything out,
including any accessories. See
if it is in good condition: hems
mended, buttons on,
everything clean.
If you can, take clothes
after that at the Farmers &
Merchants Bank in Summer
ville. All proceeds will benefit
the American Cancer Society.

you already own. This keeps
down the cost of your trip.
And you alread{ know how
these clothes look on you and
how well they resist soil and
wrinkling,
Now you are ready to pack.
Put your thin? in the luggage
about two or three days before
you leave, This will give {ou a
chance to see if you've left out
anything or included too
much,
Start by putting heavy ob
jects, such as shoes and
cosmetic cases, near the hinge
of the case. When the luggafie
is upright, they will be on the
bottom and will not wrinkle
your clothes. Put your shoes
in plastic bags or shoe socks.
Place your sleepwear near the
lt,op S 0 you can get to it quick
y.
Pack everything tightly.
Loosely-pacied clothes
wrinkle more. Have your
stockings and any other
delicate items in plastic bags
to avoid snagging them. If
you have extra space, fill it
with plastic bags. They are
handy on a trip.
If space permits only cne
piece of luggage, try the
method recommended by
women who travel a lot. Keep
all your clothes on hangers
(preferably light-weight, non
gadded wooden or wire ones).
ut a dry cleaning bag over
them. Place the clothes, folded
accordian style, the width of
the case.
Remember to unpack as
soon as you arrive. Heat,
humidity and pressure will
cause cK)thes to wrinkle.
