Exchange Wedding Vows
Miss Terri Ann Sims and
Christopher Wheeling Hilliard
were united in marriage ina 7
p.m. ceremony Saturday,
June 26, at Friendship Bap
tist Church.
The bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. George A.
Sims Jr. of 12 Whispering
Pines Road in Rome, and the
groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert L. Hilliard of
Cave Spring.
The Rev. Ken Hinkley per
formed the double-ring
ceremony before an altar
centered with a 15-branched
candelabrum flanked by two
spiral and seven-branched
candelabra placed throughout
the chancel area with burninfi
tapers decorated wit
magnolia foliage branches and
palm trees. Magnolia foliage
and blossoms were placed in
each window of the church.
A white grayer bench
centered the altar decorated
with orchids and bows with or
chid and lace streamers. The
family pews were marked with
orchid flows.
Traditional wedding music
was provided by Mrs. Juanita
Davis, pianist, and Miss Gina
Phillips, organist. David
Tucker sang, “If,”” “We've
Only Just Begun,” and ‘‘The
Lord’s Prayer.” The proces
sional was ‘‘Trumpet Volun
tary'’ and ‘‘The Bridal
Chorus.”” The recessional was
“The Wedding March.”
Miss Alicia Hughes at
tended the bridal registry on a
round table with a lavender
cloth with lace overlay, which
held a vase of spring flowers.
The matron of honor was
the sister of the bride, Mrs.
Anita Carnes of Rome. The

Alice Mathis of Cartersville.
The bridesmaids’ gown of
orchid tinasetta knit were
fashioned with gathered Em
pire bodice and spaghetti
straps. A full skirt of sunburst
pleats extended from the rais
ed waistline. A short cape of
tied-to-match lace, styled with
a stand-up collar and oval
yoke accented with orchid
satin bows at the shoulders,
completed their ensembles.
The junior bridesmaids’
were attired in gowns of
lavender Qiana. Tfie bodice
was styled with a wide Bertha
collar of dyed to match lace
encircled tKe waistline above
the long softly-gathered skirt.
They wore flowers with gyp
sophila adorning their hair
and carried white lace
parasols decorated with or
chid rosettes and white and
candlelight roses tied with or
chid ang lace streamers.
The flowergirl wore a white
dotted swiss dress with a
rounded collar trimmed in lace
and Ipuff sleeves enhanced
with lace and orchid ribbons.
An orchid sash made the
waistline. She carried a white
wicker basket with silk spring
flowers.
The bride, escorted by her
father, was ele%ant in her
gown of Chantilly lace over
taffeta. The Queen Anne
neckline was lavishly ac
cented with pearls and se
quins. The waistline featured
motifs of satin Venice lace ac
cented with pearls. The long
straight sleeves of Chantilly
lace ended in a point at the
wrist. On the back of each
sleeve was a motif of satin
Venice lace accented with
})earls. The skirt of the gown
eatured accordian pleats of
Chantilly lace which ended in
a ruffle The chapel-length
train featured motifg of satin
Venice lace. Her veil of im
ported illusion featured a
chapel-length train edged with
simulated Venice lace attach
ed to a lace-covered cap scat
tered with pearls. She carried
a Colonial bouquet of white
and eggshell rosebuds with or
chid sweet?peas, fi'psophila
and lily-of-the-valley. The
flowers were on a lace holder
with streamers of lace in
serted with candlelight ribbon
and silk streamers tied with
lily-of-the-valley. She also car
ried a lace hamfiterchief on her
bouquet that belonged to her
late grandmother, Mrs. Wilda
Anderson, and wore a dia
mond necklace and earrings

owner, Mr. Larry Mann. Please support him as you
have me through the past 15 years.
It has been a pleasure to serve you over the
years and the many friendships that have been
made will always be cherished.

The mother of the bride
wore a mauve dress of organza
over taffeta featuring a round
neckline from which an elbow
length capelet was attached.
A large rosebud accented the
waist.?ine from which the
organza skirt fell softly to the
floor. She wore pink rosebuds.
The groom’s mother wore an
elegant dress of navy blue
Qiana. The bodice was com
posed of lace with spaghetti
straps and a lace jacket
featuring a high collar and
?earl buttons accented the
ront. She wore white
rosebuds. The grandmothers
of the bridal couple were
presented white roses tied
with candlelight ribbon and
also the groom’s great
grandmother.
After the ceremony, the
bride’s parents hosted a recep
tion in the fellowship hall of
the church. Mr. and Mrs.
Larrly Jacks and Mr. and Mrs.
Cecil Sims of Rome hosted the
reception.
The bride's table held a
four-tiered cake with four
cakes each extending from an
arm at the bottom. Vines and
lavender roses were on
filligree columns that
separated the tiers. Each tier
was draped with lavender
sweetpeas. The four bottom
cakes were topped with sugar
bells and lavender roses
cascading out of them. The
cake was topped with a bride
and groom. Sglver candelabra
were on each side of the cake
with white floor-length
undercloth and pleated lace
skirts and a matching overlay.
The refreshment table was
similar to the bride’s table
with an arrangement of sum
mer flowers in a five-branched
candelabra. The table held
Swedish meatballs, ham salad
and cucumber-cream cheese
sandwiches, a vegetable tray
with dip and crackers, nuts,
mints and melon balls. Silver
trays held heart-shaped
cheese molds. Pink punch was
ladeled from a crystal punch
bowl.
The groom’s cake was
chocolate. A square tier held a
heart-shaped tier with ivory
and pink roses cascading
down the side. Kissing angels
made the ornament. The table
held a lace floor-length cloth
with two candelabra on each
side of the cake.
Those assisting in serving
were Kay Smith, Karen
Smith, Lynn Tucker, Tammy
Hinkley and Donna Warren.
They wore white gardenia
wristlets.
Birdseed was distributed
from a cheribum on a marble
stand. Scrolls were presented
to guests by Chip Smith.
After a wedcfi)ng trip, the
couple will reside in Cave Spr
ing.
* On the evening before the
wedding, the groom’s parents
hosted a rehearsal dinner in
the fellowship hall of the
church after the rehearsal.
Fifty-seven people attended.
Guests were served turkey
and dressing, gravy, %reen
beans, potato salad, cranberry
sauce, rolls, banana pudding,
coffee and tea.
