Grady Brown
Grady L. Brown, 57, of 127
Alabama St., Trion, passed
away Thursday, July 1, at
I:4v.m.
r. Brown was born in
Summerville April 27, 1925,
son of the late &in Brown Sr.
He was a retired textile
employee. He was preceded in
death by his wife, Winnola
Bartlett Brown; a son, Fred
LaVaughn Brown; and two
brothers, Paul E. Brown and
Fred Eugene Brown.
Surviving are his mother,
Mrs. Ruby rown of Route 1,
Summerville; one daughter,
Miss Sandra Kay Brown of
Trion; one son, Grady Eugene
Brown of Summerville; four
sisters, Maggie Brown of
Route 1, Summerville, Mrs.
Virginia Louise Reynolds of
Milfledgeville. and Mrs. Bar
bara Ann Reynolds and Mrs.
Brenda Carol Bellotte, both of
Route 1, Summerville; four
brothers, Alfred Brown, K. C.
Brown, Olin Brown Jr. and
Henry Lee Reynolds, all of
Route 1, Summerville; and
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held

Funeral Home with the Rev.
G. W. Rosson, the Rev. Leon
Hall and the Rev. C. E. Reece
officiatinf. Interment was in
West Hill Cemetery.

William **Lon’ Davis, 85, a
resident of Route 1, Summer
ville, passed away Wednes
day, June 30, at 1 a.m. in Oak
View Nursing Home.
He was born in Floyd
County Nov. 13, 1896, son of
the late Jeff Davis and Eula
Weeks Davis. Mr. Davis was a
retired textile worker, a
Veteran of World War 1, a
member of the VFW,
American Legion and Odd
Fellows, and was a Baptist by

Creek; one granddaughter,
Mrs. Susan Maffett of Parris,
Tenn.; two grandsons, Mike
Tomlin of Kennesaw and
Barry Bohannon of Green
ville, S.C.; two great

Funeral services were held
Friday, July 2, at 11 a.m. from
the cha ef’ of Erwin-Petitt
Funeral glome with the Rev.
W. H. Dean officiating. Inter
ment was in Summerville
Cemetery.

Clifford Gravitt
Clifford E. Gravitt, 66, a
resident of 4 Simmons St.,
| Trion, passed away Monday,
| June 28, at 4 p.m. at his
| residence.
i Mr. Gravitt was born in
| DeKalb County, Ala., July 22,
‘ 1915, son of the late Arthur
| Gravitt and Evie Dobbs
Gravitt. He was a member of
Corinth Baptist Church. He
was employed by Riegel Tex
tile Corporation in Quality
Control For 33 years, retiring
in 1980. He was also a member
of the Quarter Century Club
of Riegel. He was preceded in
death by a daughter, Virginia
Harris, Sept. 8, 1981.
Surviving are his wife,
Mrs. Opal Gravitt; one son,
Kyle Gravitt of Ringgold; two
sisters, Mrs: Dora Mae Chap
man of Fort Oglethorpe and
Mrs. Lillie Fox of Fort Payne,
Ala.; four brothers, Hoyt
Gravitt of Bearfoot Bay, Fla.,
Everett Gravitt and Floyd
Gravitt, both of Fort Payne,
Ala.,, and Kirby Gravitt of
Detroit, Mich.; four grand
children; five great
grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, June 30, at 2 p.m.
from the chagfl of Erwin-
Petitt Funeral Home with the
Rev. Clinton Garmon and the
Rev. Don Moreland of
ficiating. Interment was in
Green Hills Memory Garden.

James Pledger
James Carl Pledger, 80, a
resident of 25 First gt.. Trion,
passed away Sunday, July 4,
at 4 p.m. in a local hospital.
Mr. Pledéer was born in
Chattooga County May 9,
1902, son of the late George
Pledger and Lucy Weaver
Pledger. He was a member of
the Pennville Gospel Taber
nacle, Choir Director and
Elder for 42 years. He was
retired from Riegel Textile
Corporation, and was a
member of the Quarter Cen
tury Club of Riegel:
Surviving are his wife,
Mrs. Letha Pledger of Trion;
one son, Elbert Pledger of
Dayton, Ohio; two grandsons,
David Pledger and Chuck
Pledger, both of Dayton, Ohio;
one sister, Mrs. Nell Martin of
Summerville; three brothers,
Cicero Pledger of Lyerly, Cecil
Pledger of Melbourne, Fla.,
and Clifford Pledger of Sum
merville; and several nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services were held
Tuesday, July 6, at 2 p.m.
from the Pennville Gospel
Tabernacle with the Rev.
Hoyt Parker and the Rev.
James Thompson officiating.
Interment was in Green Hil%s
Memory Garden.

Orena Wyatt
Mrs. Orena Cavin Wyatt,
83, a resident of Menlo, pass
ed away Monday, July 5, at
5:35 p.m. in a local hospital.
Mrs. Wyatt was born in
Cherokee County, Ala., March
21, 1899, daughter of the late
Charlie R. Toles and Alice
Weaver Toles. She was a
member of the Menlo United
Methodist Church. She was
receded in death by her hus
gand, H. E. Wyatt.
Surviving are her one
daughter, Loutrell Cavin of
Omabha, Neb.; one son, John C.
Cavin of Greer, S. C.; one step
son, Agnew Wyatt of Menlo;
four stepdaughters, Lurene
Graham of Tucker, Eugenia
Moore of Hogansville, Netsie
Ely of Franilin, and Doris
White of Menlo; one brother,
Ralph Toles of Rome; one
sister, Blanche Toles of
Menlo; eight grandchildren;
nine great-gran§£hildren; and
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, July 7, at 2 p.m.
from the Menlo United
Methodist Church with the
Rev. Alvin Busby and the
Rev. Carl Bolt officiating. In
terment was in Ami
Cemetery.
