Mary Anderson
Mrs. Mary Bennett Ander
son, 87, a resident of 103 Har
rell St., Trion, passed away
Monday at 6:50 p.m. in a local
nurging home.
Mrs. Anderson was born in
Chattooga County Nov. 17,
1894, daughter of the late Jim
Busby and Eller McWhorter
Busby. She was a member of
New Eethel Baptist Church.
Survivixlw are her two

of Trion and Miss Ollean Ben
nett of Summerville; two sons,
Oscar Bennett of Trion and
Richard E. Bennett of Rome;
one sister, Mrs. Maybelle

great-grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 2 p.m.

Ross Williams and the Rev.
Bill Miller officiating. Inter
ment was in Green Hills
Memory Garden.

Mrs. Carpenter was born
in Chattooga County July 23,
1911, daughter of the late
George Dawson and Lula
Henderson Dawson. She was a
member of Bethel Methodist
Church. She was preceded in
death by her husband, Boland
Carpenter, Feb. 17, 1978; and
a brother, Frank Dawson,
March 3, 1974.
Surviving are her one son,
Thomas Carpenter of Route 4,
Summervilfia; one brother,
L.V. ““Buck’’ Dawson of
Route 4, Summerville; and
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held
Monday, Sept. 6, at 2 p.m.

passed away Thursday, Sept.
2, at 9:06 a.m.
Mrs. Thomas was born in
Chattooga County Aug. 15,
1901, daughter of the late
William Frank Shropshire and
Margie Louella Sfiropshire.
She was a member of Miami
Shores Baptist Church in
Miami, Fla. She was a retired
bookkeeper. She was preceded
in death by her husband, Ed
ward Thomas; two sisters,
Mrs. Pauline Graham and
Mrs. Frances McGraw; and
two brothers, Lester Shrop
shire and Ralph Shropshire.
Surviving are her one son,
Jack Mallicoat of Miami, Fla.;
four sisters, Mrs. Pearl
Millican and Mrs. Clara
Garner, both of Summerville,
Mrs. Zellna Gilbert of Lyerly
and Mrs. Kathryn Allmon of
Miami, Fla.; and two brothers,
John Shropshire of Houston,
Texas and David Shropshire
of Ocala, Fla.

gone into the making of this
show. Everyone is invited to

field's in Summerville, and the
Sara Frances Shop in Lyerly.
Tickets are $1 in advance and
$2 at the door. All children
under 6 gears of age will be ad
mitted free.

Alive News TV Anchorman,
will be the emcee for the even
ing.
The show will feature a
number of new fall and winter
fashions for the audience’s
viewing pleasure. A surprise
grand finale, centered around
a Christmas theme of red and
white, is planned.

beginning at 7 p.m.

Wash. They will be there two
weeks for test on Teague and
his parents before he has a
bone marrow transplant.
According to a spokesman
for the benefit, the cost of the
ogeration will be around
$75,000 to $85,000. Teague's
hospital cost so far this year is
around $50,000, noted the
spokesman,
