I chose Fashion Review as
my 4-H project because | en
joy the latest fashions and like
sewing. In reading about my
project I came to the conclu
sion that it is more economical
to make my clothes than to
buy them ready-made. As I
began my project I found
there was many fun and new
thinfis to learn. I have learned
the difference in many types
of fabrics and which fagric will
be suitable for certain types of
clothing. When I began my
sewing 1 have learned the
common seam finishes such as
zigza%{ stitch in the ditch,
French seams and the straight
stitch, with the new skills I
have mastered ‘the list is
endless to the sewing
machine’s and I can do. I hope
to use this project in the near
future by participating in the
Cotton Bowl. Here I can gain
experiences and I am sure my
project will help me in the dis
tant future. With the rising
price of clothing I will have
the skill to make my own.

DAIRY FOODS PROJECT
I chose dairy foods as my
project because I enjoy cook
ing. In the dairy foodys project
4-H'ers learn about nutrition
as well as cooking. We learn
the importance of eating foods
from the four food groups
(meat, bread and cerea%,rfruit
and vegetables and dairy)

Milk is important at all
ages from babies to the elder
ly. You must do special things
when cooking with milk to
keep it from scorching. Here is
my favorite recipe for cooking
with milk.
CHOCOLATE PIE
Ya cuf sugar
3 tablespoons corn starch
Y 2 teaspoon salt
2% cups milk
2 tablespoons cocoa
3 egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
Mix sugar, cornstarch, salt
and cocoa well together. This
keeps the cornstarch from
lumping. Add milk. Cook in
top of double boiler until
slightly thickened. In
separate dish beat e%‘g yolks
and add a little of the hot mix
ture to yolks st.irrin%l fast.
Now pour this in with the rest
in top of double boiler and
cook until thick. Cool five
minutes. Add vanilla. Pour in
to cooked gie crust. Add mer
ingue and brown.
