School lunchroom. Michelle Parker, above, was named
Miss Chattoofia Countgr for 1983. The first runner-up

Rip-Offs
The theft of hubcaps from
a local resident’s vehicle over
the weekend is under in
vestigation by the Summer
ville Police Department.

early Saturday morning that
sometime between 8 p.m. Fri
day and 6:40 a.m. Saturday
someone allegedly stole the
hubcaps off his car.
The car, a 1980 Ford
Thunderbird, was -parked in
the Pledger carport at the
time of the incident, according
to the police report. The wire
spoke hubcaps were valued at
approximately S4OO, the
report said.

County Patrol Car Involved In Accident
Two separate accidents
Sunday afternoon, one involv
ing a new county patrol car,
sent four area residents to the
hospital for treatment of in
juries,
Mark R. Hicks, 19, of
Route 1, Armuchee, and a
passenger in his vehicle,
19-year-old Deidra Bryant of
Route 2, Summerville, were
taken to the Chattooga Coun
ty Hospital following their ac
cident. Hicks was treated and
later released. Ms. Bryant was
transferred to Floxd Medical
Center in Rome, where she re
mained as a patient Wednes
day. Velma Allen, 39, of 9
Rought St., Summerville, and
her 21-year-old son, Anthony,
were taken to the local
hospital after their accident.

According to a Geor%i,a
State Patrol (GSP) report, the
accident involving the county
gatrol car occurred around
:13 p.m.on U. S. Hi%hway 27
in front of Bill's Case in the
Pennville Community.
The report said Deputy
Aubrey Smith was traveling
south on Hi%lway 27 in a
1983 Ford LT fiatrol car. At
the same time Hicks, travel
ing north on the highway, at
tempted to turn left into the
parking lot of Bill's Case,
noted the report. The patrol
car, the report said, came
around an unknown vehicle,
who was stopped in the south
bound lane waitir‘xjg to turn left
onto a side road. The right
front of the patrol car struck
the right front of the Hicks
vehicle, a 1964 Chevrolet
picku? truck, said the report.
Fo lowing an investigation
by Sgt. Eddie Ivey of the
GSP, no charges were filed in
connection with the accident.
