Mrs. Marian Bryant, 89, a
resident of Hammond Street,
Lyerly, passed away last
TKursday. March 13, in the
local nursing home.
Mrs. Bryant was born in
Hamilton County, Tenn., Aug.
24, 1896, daughter of the late
Irwin John and Virginia
Williams Gardner. She was a
member of the Lyerly First
Baptist Church. She was
greceded in death by her hus
and, Alfred M. ‘‘Jack”
Bryant, Jan. 22, 1962; a
daughter, Ruth Carpenter, in
August, 1983; and a son, Gard
ner Bryant, in January, 1965.
Surviving are two
daughters, Mrs. Virginia Alex
ander and Mrs. Dorothy Hanle
both of Lyerly; six sons, Nor
man Bryant, Grady Bryant,
Jack Bryant and Edward
Bryant, all of Summerville,
Joi,mny Bryant and Bill
Bryant of Lyerly; 20 grand
children; an(i’ several great
grandchildren; and nieces and
nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held
last Saturday, March 15, at 4

Miss Annie Burton and Miss
Ruby Burton of Route 1, Trion,
and Mrs. Dorotl'lxy Baker of
Chattanooga, Tenn.; two
brothers, Troy Burton of Sum
merville and Ralph Burton of
Subligna; and several aunts
and uncles, nieces and nephews
also survive.

He was a member of the Sum

was a veteran of World War 11
serving in the U. S. Army, and
was a retired dairy farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs.
Lois Holly Butler; three
daughters, Lisa Schwanbeck of
Rome, Lynn Davis of Atlanta
and Anita Brannen of Athens;
five grandchildren; four sisters,
Edna Jo Butler, Mary Roßin
son, Vadah Kendrick and Billie
Haven, all of Chatsworth; one
brother, John Butler of
Chatsworth; and several nieces
and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, March 19, at 3
g.m. from the Summerville
irst Bart.ist Church with Dr.,
Jack Colwell officiating.
Interment was in Green
Hills Memory Garden.

John Carl Chamlee, 80, a
resident of Scoggins Avenue,
Summerville, passed away
Tuesday night, March 11, at
his residence, following an ex
tended illness.
Mr. Chamlee was born Jan.
9, 1906, son of the late William
and Nellie Bunch Chamlee. He
was a member of the North
Summerville Baptist Church
and was a retired taxi cab
operator.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs.
Mary P. Chamlee; three
daughters, Mrs. Christine
Guest of LaFayette, Mrs. Nell
Ott of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs.
Jane Chapman of - Fort
Oglethorpe; two sisters, Mrs.
