Crowe and Alfred Crowe, both
of Summerville; six grand
children; and several nieces and
nephews also survive.
There was no funeral ser
vice. Mr. Crowe donated his
bo;is' to the Emory University
Medical College for medical
research.
Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home
was in charge of arrangements.

a resident of Route 1, Summer
ville, passed away Sunday,
March 30, at 3:45 p.m. at his
residence.
He was born in Cherokee
County, Ala., Jan. 28, 1913,
son of the late Ed Vaneelt and
Elizabeth M. Tallent Vanpelt.
He was a retired textile worker
and a member of the Berryton
Ba%tist Church.
urviving are his wife, Mrs.
Allie Lois Vanpelt of Summer
ville; two brothers, J.C.
(Calvin) Vanpelt and Joe
Vanpelt, both of Summerville;
one stfipdaughter. Mrs. Bar
bara Allen of Summerville; one
granddau%‘hter; one great
granddaughter; and several
nieces and nephews also
survive.
Funeral services were held
Tuesday, April 1, at 2 p.m,
from the Erwin-Petitt Funeral
Home with the Rev. Gleason
Maxwell and the Rev. Wilburn
Dooley officiating.
Interment was in Chelsea
Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were
Junior Trammell, Ray Tram
mell, Robert Watkins, Ronny
Watkins, Ernest Trammell and
Jackie Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were
Jog Gaines, Tom Freeman,
Robert Lane, Luke Smithson
and Charles Crabtree.
Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home
was in charge of arrangements.

was held Wednesdlafl. March
26, at the Summerville United
Methodist Church. Thirty-two
gersons volunteered to donate
lood in the event.
Local Red Cross Chairman
Mary Woodham stated that
she greatly appreciated the
donors and the total communi
ty effort in the project.
Donors in the blood drive

Espy, who received her 4 gallon

Ash, Diane Watkins, Jane

Council
Discusses
Project

The Menlo City Council
reviewed plans for its propos
ed sewer system at its regular
April meeting Tuesday night
at 7 o'clock.
The council reviewed
several items from its
checklist, and adopted a lgd
services agreement with city
attorney Ed Surles in accor
dance with Farmers Home Ad
ministratimnf)olicies.
The Menlo City Hall is
nearly coml&lete and will be us
ed for the fi' meet.in_fi. accor
ding to ayor Theresa
Canada. The last item which
will be added to the building is
floor covering. The council 530
discussed the installation of
panic bars on the doors of the
new building. The interior work
on the new city hall has been
done mostly by volunteers. The
mayor noted that resident Gus
Powell had built a number of
cabinets and vanities for the

The council voted

Development Authority.
Present for the meeting
were T.J. Luther, Tommy
Ballard, Bud Tucker, Danny
Powell, Hester Hurtt and
Mayor Theresa Canada. The
meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.

By Burglar
The burglary of several
tools and other equipment was
reported to Summerville Police
Rz' a Hammond Drive resident
onday.
Police said Lela Woods
reported someone entered her
outside utility building over
night and took a seven-foot
step ladder, another 17-foot
ladder, a footstool, two 50-foot
drop cords, two butcher knives,
one ax, one spade and several
pots and pans.

Summerville Police report a
bicycle was stolen from a
Woodland Avenue resident
overnight Tuesday.
Greg Shrogshu‘e reported
to police that the 10-speed bike
was stolen.

rested a Berryton woman who
allegedly shoplifted 16 Iglufs of
chewing tobacco from Hurley's
on Commerce Street.

Construction Site Hit By Theft
