Data Here
The Census Bureau will col
lect current unemployment
data for this area the week of
Mai' 19-23, according to James
Holmes, director of the
bureau’s Atlanta regional
office.
The local data will con
tribute to May's national
employment and unemploy
ment %icture to be released
June 2 by the Bureau of Labor
Statistics (BLS). The March
data showed a national civilian
unemgloyment rate of 7 '.n2ufier
cent. This means that 8 million
workers out of a labor force of
117.2 million did not have jobs.
The Census Bureau's mon
thly Current Population
Survef' includes a national
sample of some 58,000
households and is sponsored by
the BLS primarily to gather
employment and unemploy
ment data. Information sup-
