. EX-P.O.W.s — ALL WARS
APPRECIATION WEEK-END
' APROCLAMATION
We are a peace-seeking nation. And, we are presently at peace. We are a free nation. And,
we owe s 0 much to the brave men and women who have sacrificed so much for us in all
of our wars.
WHEREAS, in war among those who sacrifice the most are the ones that are held hostage
by our enemies. ;
WHEREAS, the honor of these brave veterans is not tarnished. To the contrary, we honor
these veterans who have suffered so much that we might be free.
WHEREAS, the majority of these strong and brave men and women survived the endless
hours of confinement, solitary, filth, torture and the day-to-day struggle to live. We must
remember them and the extreme pain and punishment they endured.
WHEREAS, the living conditions and brutal treatment they received from a violent and
deadly enemy was sometimes worse than death itself.
WHEREAS, there are others who have not been able to re-adjust completely after enduring
so very much. We must pledge to help them in any honorable way possible.
WHEREAS, the majority 'have successfully rejoined the mainstream of American life. We can
never repay these veterans for the freedom we enjoy each day.
WHEREAS, we urge our fellow citizens, one and all, to join with us to honor these brave Ex-
Prisoners of War and those who may still remain prisoners—for they had and have a
dream that supercedes all dreams and that is to come home and to keep America free.
WHEREAS, we, the undersigned heads of local government of Chattooga County, Georgia,
call upon the citizens of this county to join with us in proclaming May 16th, 17th and
