Gary Andrews To Seek
Service Commission Post
Gary Andrews of
Chickamaufia will announce
Saturday, May 17, his inten
tion to seek re-election to the
Georgia Public Service Com
mission. The announcement
will take place at a rally at the
Springs in Chickamauga,
beginning at 3 p.m., and featur
ing an endorsement sg;ech by
Governor Joe Frank Harris.
Andrews, 39, was ap
-Bointed to the Public Service
ommission post by Governor
Harris in May of last year to
fill the unexpired term of Mac
Barber, who had resigned. An
drews gave lép his position as
J udfig{the uperior Courts of
the out Mountain Judicial
Circuit, which he had held since
1981, to accept the
appointment.
Andrews, a native of
Chickamauga, graduated from
Gordon Lee High School and
received degrees in accounting
and law from the University of
Georgia. He is also a graduate
of the National Judicial Col
lege. Following graduation
from law school, Andrews serv
ed as an Assistant Attorney
General for the State and prac
ticed law in Atlanta and
Chickamauga until his election
to the Superior Court in 1981.
In announcing his inten
tions Andrews said, ‘I
especially hope to have great
support and involvement in
this race from the Northwest
Georgia area, which too often
has been ignored in state-wide
politics.”
Named one of Five
Outstandin% Young Men in the
State in 1981 by the Gaorfu
Jaycees, Andrews is ied to
the former Roseann Raughton
and has three children. His
parents are Mr. and Mrs.
Garnett Andrews of
Chickamauga. ;
Andrews invites and en

day rally for refreshments and
music, followed by his an
nouncement and Governor
