The annual fishing rodeo
held Saturday at James H.
“Slop%y" Floyd State Park
drew the largest number of par
ticipants since the event was
begun a number of years ago.
Seventy-one fishermen, or
fisherpersons as the case may
be, registered in anticipation of
capturing one of the many
prizes available.
The rodeo was again co
sponsored by The Georgia
Department of Natural
Resources and Chattooga
Countg Veterans of Foreign
Wars Post 6688 along with its
ladies auxiliary.
The threat of rain, along
with visible evidence of an ap
proaching thunderstorm
almost cut the competition
short. However, the rain held

Youth Jogging Event Planned Saturday
The youth of Trion Church
of God of Pr‘%ahecy will be run
ning ‘“The Word"” from their
church to James H. *‘Sloppy”
Floyd State Park n;th through
the heart of Trion and
Summerville,
The event will take place
Saturday, May 31. The joggers
carrying ‘“The Word"' will leave
the church in Trion at 5 p.m.
They will arrive in downtown
Summerville near 6 p.m. There
the Bible will change hands
from one jogger to another.
The “Jogiers for Jesus"
will arrive at the park at 7 g.m.
Thees' will present the Bible s
used, one each to Mag'or Jake
Woods of Trion and Mayor
Sewell Cash of Summervill;.
At the f;ark there will be a
Christian Jamboree headed up
by H. E. *‘Bubba" Cardin, the
State Youth Director of the
Church of God of Prophecy.
There will be lots of music and
singing‘.‘ Cardin will also ad
dress the youth,
The public is cordially in
vited to join the ifoup in
downtown Summerville and at
the park.

VFW ladies auxiliary. Larr
Holbrook, along with VFVt;
Commander Ray Hall served
as Chief Chefs for the hot do%
cooking. They had plenty o
moral support and supervision
from onlookers. :
Mark Cooper, the winner of
the most fish category in the
11-14-year-old age group also
had the dubious distinction of
catching the smallest fish,
while Jason Stoker, of the
seven to 10-year-old category,
caught the first fish og the
tournament.
