and Roy Bishop. It began its
work more than a year prior to

Church Celebrates 100 Years
The Lyerly First Baptist Church
celebrated its 100th anniversary Sunday
with a variety of special efuests and
events. A recently £\;blish history of
the church was distributed Sunday.

nearest him. Much to his sur
prise, it bore his own name
which the church had inscrib- |
ed in his honor. Children, I
grandchildren or other |
relatives then removed the
covering from the remaining 26
tiles.
Another highlight of the
day was the implanting of a
time capsule in one of the
hollow columns of the
walkway. The cafsule contain
ed a program of the weekend
activities, a copy of the church
history book, current happen
shown with a copy of the church history.

World.” The concert which

Vacation Bible School will
be held at Lyerly First Baptist
Church June 23-27 from 6:30
p-m. 9 p.m.
A kickoff rally will be held
Saturday, June 21, with a
parade through Lyerly. Par
ticipants are asked to meet at
the church at 10:15.
Immediately followin%the
parade there will be free VBS
coloring books, free hot f,?fi:'
helium Ealloom and pony rides.
At 11:30 Mr. B, the magi
cian, will be performing.
Pastor, 'l‘ongcChrime, and
Vacation Bible School director,
Ella Faye Taylor, extends a
welcome to all to attend. There
will be classes for pre-school to
age 17.
